Head Competitive Swim Coach
The YMCA of Metro North is looking for a  Full  Time Head Competitive Coach  to bring their aquatic passion to the newly merged Swim Team.  The team will have three locations: Lynn, Peabody and Melrose.  Under the direction of the Association Aquatic Adviser, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible helping our swimmers to realize what they can be instead of what they are, organizing and conducting practices, clinics, meets and other events for the YMCA of Metro North Swim Team. As their coach, your job is to set the bar high, inspire them to reach this bar, encourage them, and most of all, guide them in the best possible manner and in the most supportive environment. This newly formed team had 130 swimmer enrolled in the 2018 fall/winter season with room to grow.  This program is conducted in accordance with the missions and policies of the YMCA of Metro North, the YMCA of the USA, and USA Swimming. We invite our new coach to be a link to our storied past and the bridge to our successful future.   Qualifications A minimum of Lifeguarding (ARC) and CPR/AED/AEO is required. Coaching certifications from YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming. Certification from ASCA is preferred. Two to four years competitive coaching experience is required. Two years Head Coach preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate recognized principles and practices of coaching young swimmers. Demonstrated ability to build a team of quality coaches. Great communication skills a must as well as supervision and public relations skills. Sexual harassment training must be obtained within 6 months. Additional certifications preferred: Lifeguard Management, WSI and/or Y Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Pool Operator. Essential Functions Contribute to and supervise the fulfillment of the YMCA Mission and character development values through the YMCA of Metro North Swim team program. Develop staff through supervision and development opportunities. Recruit, train, and supervise all level swim coaches, coach’s assistants, and parent volunteers. Recruit and oversee the Parent’s Association volunteers, attend monthly Parent Advisory meetings or arrange a coach representative. Assure that monthly all-parent meetings are held (this can include the spring banquet). Encourage recruitment of swimmers through YMCA swim lesson programs as well as other YMCA youth programs in collaboration with the Association Aquatic Adviser and the Aquatics Directors. At times, teach swim lessons and guard during low swim team times. Maintain and administer Team Unify Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system of the status and progress of each swimmer. In conjunction with the assistant swim coaches, prepare all meet entries assuring that every child swims in every meet they attend. Develop a schedule for swim team practices across multiple facilities, and develop competitive swim clinics each year. Update, maintain, and distribute the Swim Team handbook. Communicate regularly with the Association Aquatic Advisor and all coaches. Maintain communication and rapport with all swimmers and their parents. Demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude towards the team and provide a positive learning environment for all. Oversee the team unify website and other social media and ensure that it is kept up to date. Assist in the preparation of an annual budget under the guidance and supervision of the Association Aquatic Adviser, and manage that budget for the Swim team program in accordance with established procedures and expectations. Represent the YMCA of Metro North at YMCA regional events and trainings. Continue to develop and evaluate the USA Swimming program as part of the Swim program. Report any facility problems, needed repairs to the Facility Director. Evaluate all programs annually to ensure they meets the needs of program participants. Keep current with swim coaching techniques and issues. Membership in ASCA recommended. Keep all certifications current and monitor coaching staff to ensure their certifications are also kept current. Attend practice in each location each week. Other duties as needed. Cause-Driven Leadership® Competencies Staff Administration: Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, will assist in recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, motivating and evaluating swim team staff, as well as taking disciplinary action up to and including termination as needed. Program Development: Assist with the evaluation and improvement of the swim team program. Assist with the creation of new programs and new collaborations. Supervision: Supervise all assistant coaches, coach aids, volunteer coaches, and mentors. Complete reports, projects, and assignments as needed or assigned. Attend meetings and trainings as needed or assigned.   Required Certifications A minimum of Lifeguarding (YMCA or ARC) and CPR/AED/AEO is required. Coaching certifications from YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming. Certification from ASCA is preferred. Principles for YMCA within the first 60 days of hire Salary $45,000 - $52,000.

The Village of Shorewood Hills is accepting applications for the position of Pool Manager. This is presently a part time, year round position with seasonally adjusted and flexible hours. The position is responsible for managing all operations of the pool including staffing, purchasing, programming and mechanical functions including opening and closing. During the summer season, the pool employs about 70-80 individuals. The Village encourages a wide range of individuals to apply, including those with management, aquatics programming, and staffing expertise. Mechanical/technical aptitudes in maintaining a pool are desirable. The Shorewood Hills Pool is a 50-Meter, 10-lane, outdoor facility.  There is an additional wading pool with water features as well as a concession area and locker room facilities.  The pool has a diving well incorporated into the deep end, with two, 1-meter diving boards.  Our pool operates on seasonal memberships that are open to both Shorewood Hills residents as well as those from around the Madison area.  A typical day at the pool will incorporate open swim times as well as organized programs that include swim and dive lessons, swim and dive teams, water ballet, masters swimming, and water aerobics.  The pool is generally in use from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM.  In addition, we host several events including such things as a water ballet show, a triathlon, swim and dive meets, and various membership events.    To apply complete a Village employment application, along with a cover letter, and resume. Reports To General Manager General Description Responsible for providing innovative direction and support in all aspects of the aquatics operation.  The Director will be the Junior Head Swim Coach, Supervise both Swim Lessons & Lifeguard operations as well oversee the Master Swim Program.  Responsibilities and Duties Head Coach, Gold River Stingrays Recruit, train, schedule and supervise swim team staff. Support the organization in planning, budgeting, promotion and evaluation of all swim team activity. Oversee the control and safety of the pool during clinics, practices and meets. Assist in the scheduling of the pool for clinics, practices and meets. Provide innovative practice and workout content including written practice plans, instruction in all four competitive strokes, starts, turns and touches and the use of drills and stroke correction in every opportunity. Foster sportsmanship, camaraderie and a positive work ethic in every swimmer. Be present at all practices, meets and team events. Administer the seeding and scheduling of swimmers for meets. Maintain attendance records. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the parent advisory board monthly and weekly with the club manager and team representatives. All other duties as assigned.   Lifeguard Recruit, train, schedule and supervise lifeguard staff. Support the organization in planning, budgeting, promotion and evaluation of all lifeguard activity. Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Assistant or 2 years as a Head Swim Coach Registered USA Swimming Coach Positive experience within the aquatics industry. Experience in management, ability to provide clear direction to employees and highly organized WSI and CPR/AED certifications. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent. AQUATICS LIFEGUARD & SAFETY COORDINATOR
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director and within the policies established by the Wallingford Family YMCA, the Aquatics Lifeguard & Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering of Lifeguard in-service trainings, conducting staff evaluations, and weekly scheduling for lifeguard staff. The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team, Summer League Head Coach Summary : The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team is a summer league team located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Assist with the evaluation and improvement of the swim team program.  Assist with the creation of new programs and new collaborations. Responsible for implementing/enforcing any and all rules or guidelines as outlined in the Team Handbook. Ensure proper communication with parents and swimmers Must be able to show support and belief in the WASC program structure as a whole. Job Responsibilities SCSC Coaching: Responsible for and directs all levels of programming, including lessons/precompetitive, competitive (developmental, age group, seniors), Develop and drive a consistent, team-wide coaching philosophy, which is age-appropriate, emphasizing excellence, goal setting, and team work Plans and oversees execution of all phases of the program relating to athlete performance to ensure consistency and continuity in skill development and progression Devise, communicate, and execute seasonal plans, practice schedules, and training, which support team and individual goals Ensure coaches are following the goals of the training plan Attract and develop coaches who create a pipeline for training and motivating swimmers at every level of the sport. Direct coaching staff, which includes establishing coach performance expectations and development, conducting annual performance reviews, coordinating, and tracking continuing education and required certifications, and building a cohesive coaching staff; emphasizing communication, knowledge sharing, and cooperation Guides the recruitment and retention of swimmers Coach, develop, and attract National Level Swimmers that set a world class standard for excellence in swimming Determines meet schedule (including travel trips) and criteria to participate Sets workout schedules to maximize use of facilities and to meet budgetary requirements Coaches a minimum of one group Stay abreast of current trends, policies, and rules related to USA Swimming Ensures coaching coverage for all USA Swim Meets attended by SCSC Authority to select clinics and national level meets for staff education, along with authority to select staff to attend Promotes and encourages swimmer participation in special programs and clinics offered by USA and Pacific Swimming Provides college guidance and promotion to Senior swimmers during their Junior year in High School and trains the coaching staff on how to provide this guidance Oversees the following relating to meets Disbursement of meet information Maintain best times for team Maintain team records SCSC Administration: Responsible for directing entire Wet side staff (all site coaches and assistant coaches and CFO) Establish leadership and communication systems for handling community, local, national, and international swim relationships on behalf of the SCSC now and in the future Is a member of the SCSC Board of Directors Oversight of all SCSC administration with the assistance of administrative staff per and in accordance with SCSC by-laws Responsible for the daily operations of SCSC Partner with, advise, and assist the Board of Directors in conducting strategic Board responsibilities including annual club budgeting, annual club goals, fiscal policies, fee structures, club communication, membership, meets, and fundraising Collaborate and make recommendations to the Board regarding staffing requirements and changes. Has authority to hire and fire staff within budget constraints Facilitates recruiting, retention, career development and growth for staff members: Provides written job descriptions and annual evaluations to the Board for all salaried coaching and administration staff, and supervises salaried staff in developing job descriptions and annual evaluations for hourly staff Plans and directs regular staff meetings Responsible for salary and bonus recommendations within budget constraints and approval from Board Communicates with the Board of Directors regarding all aspects of team management Primary responsibility for establishing processes for dealing with all coaching, staff, issues and partners with Program Director on member issues when applicable Schedules routine office hours for all full-time coaches and the office staff Provide bi-monthly reports on the state of the team to all Board members Ensure Program Director maintains the SCSC website, publish a regular newsletter to the club membership, attend community meetings, and represent SCSC at all appropriate community meetings. Create and communicate annual calendar of meets, training, fundraisers, and related membership events. Responsible to make sure all USA Swimming Club Excellence program paperwork is completed annually and turned in on time. Allocation of any grant money from this program is at the sole discretion of the Head Coach. Requirements ASCA Level 4 or higher Knowledge of Hy-Tek, Team Unify and Microsoft Office Able to manage a multi-site program and direct staff Able to recruit and retain top level coaches Good verbal and written communication skills High level of honesty and integrity Maintain current certifications (CPR, Coaches Safety, Background, APT) Must be able to attend all Board meetings and weekend events/meets NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
