Reports To General Manager General Description Responsible for providing innovative direction and support in all aspects of the aquatics operation.  The Director will be the Junior Head Swim Coach, Supervise both Swim Lessons & Lifeguard operations as well oversee the Master Swim Program.  Responsibilities and Duties Head Coach, Gold River Stingrays Recruit, train, schedule and supervise swim team staff. Support the organization in planning, budgeting, promotion and evaluation of all swim team activity. Oversee the control and safety of the pool during clinics, practices and meets. Assist in the scheduling of the pool for clinics, practices and meets. Provide innovative practice and workout content including written practice plans, instruction in all four competitive strokes, starts, turns and touches and the use of drills and stroke correction in every opportunity. Foster sportsmanship, camaraderie and a positive work ethic in every swimmer. Be present at all practices, meets and team events. Administer the seeding and scheduling of swimmers for meets. Maintain attendance records. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the parent advisory board monthly and weekly with the club manager and team representatives. All other duties as assigned.   Lifeguard Recruit, train, schedule and supervise lifeguard staff. Support the organization in planning, budgeting, promotion and evaluation of all lifeguard activity. Oversee the control and safety of the pool during lifeguard operations. Schedule lifeguard coverage for pool (Memorial Day to Labor Day).   Swim Lessons Recruit, train, schedule and supervise swim lesson staff. Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Assistant or 2 years as a Head Swim Coach Registered USA Swimming Coach Positive experience within the aquatics industry. Experience in management, ability to provide clear direction to employees and highly organized WSI and CPR/AED certifications. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent. Compensation The Aquatics Director is a full time hourly position (30 hours per week) plus private swim lessons.  Hourly rate will be based on experience.  This position is eligible for benefits including health, dental, life, LTD and 401k. The primary purpose of the Aquatics Manager is to provide outstanding service through warm interactions.  The secondary responsibilities are to manage and supervise all employees and operations of the Aquatics Division including both the leisure pool and competition pool, and beach in a professional manner.  Other responsibilities include: program planning and administration, leadership and coaching for our competitive swim team, personnel and budget management, and aquatic facility and equipment management. Employees in this classification must represent the RecPlex in a professional manner, while instructing and monitoring personnel, members, guests, and program participants.   Job Duties ·Must be able to manage the competitive swim team including working with existing coaches and staff while growing the team in numbers and talent. ·Responsible for managing the Learn to Swim lesson program while growing participant numbers and swim instructors. ·Responsible for recruiting championship bids and the bid process for hosting and managing rented and hosted swim meets, open water swims, and events both indoor and outdoor. ·Interface with RecPlex Website, Guest Services, RecPlex Managers, and Business Office on all Aquatics Programming. ·Coordinate aquatics marketing plans. ·Must be capable of scheduling, training, supervising and evaluating a large number of lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic personnel of varying ages and emotional maturity. ·Must meet or exceed budget targets for revenues, and budget limits for labor costs and direct costs. ·Must facilitate staff meetings with aquatic staff and swim team. ·Must maintain administrative records and create reports including:  attendance reports, program reports, payroll documentation including approval of employee time sheets, accident reports and personnel evaluations; conduct regular performance reviews, at prescribed intervals; keep staff informed of regular, new and upcoming activities, events, policies, programs and so on. ·Work with outside vendors and sponsors to make sure we are adhering to agreements and promoting best business practices. ·Must be able to coordinate with other recreation managers, facility supervisors and school administrators for scheduling and reservations of program facilities. ·Must create a positive hospitality and be accessible and visible. ·Must establish and maintain a set work schedule; ensure adequate coverage during all hours of operation; work within payroll budget in areas of responsibility. ·Must be energetic, enthusiastic and motivational. ·Must know and enforce all RecPlex, Village and department rules, regulations, policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines. ·Must work shifts as Manager on Duty including: opening/closing of the facility; physical inspection of the entire building; ensure safety of employees and patrons in the facility and administer CPR or first aid as needed; set up, put away and maintain athletic equipment; maintain cash control of the safe and front desk drawer; complete paperwork. ·Must have the ability to apply principles of influence, such as motivation, incentive and leadership systems. ·Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. ·Maintain effective working relationships with employees, peers, coordinators, and the public. ·Ability to visually monitor pool and beach areas and respond quickly to emergency situations. ·Ability to obtain and maintain preferred certifications. ·Requires the ability to perform highly skilled coordinated movements, such as utilizing a rescue tube, spinal board, Shepherd’s Crook and other safety and first aid procedures. ·Must have knowledge of life guarding techniques; Jeff Ellis & Associates swimming programs; pool safety; water chemistry. ·Must be able to perform other duties and special assignments as directed by the Operations Superintendent and Director of Recreation including assignments that may be outside the primary area of employment.     Physical Requirements ·Requires high degree of interaction and communication with staff and public.  Works closely with Operations Superintendents, RecPlex Managers, and Director of Recreation.  Work subject to varying shifts.  Majority of work performed is indoors in an aquatic atmosphere.  The work requires long periods of attentiveness, standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, reaching, carrying, cleaning, visual monitoring, verbal and written communication, hearing, moderate lifting 15-50 pounds, periods of extensive public contact and exposure to stressful and emergency situations. ·RecPlex is located in Prairie Springs Park at 9900 Terwall Terrance, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.  Hours will vary with evening, weekend, and holiday work required.  Work is usually performed during typical daytime and early evening hours, but diversity of special events and workload, as well as available staffing and budget, requires weekend and evening hours.   Requirements - educational, certifications and experience ·Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Business or related field is required.  Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 - 10 years of aquatics experience with significant experience coaching and managing a competitive swim team. Head Swim Coach Watertown Area Swim Club – Watertown, SD Full Time – The Position: Watertown Area Swim Club is looking to hire a Head Swim Coach for our club team.  Swimmers age 5 – 19 years of age.  Position requires a motivated and enthusiastic coach with knowledge of competitive swimming.  Requirements: Abide by the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and WASC policies and procedures. Duties include but are not limited to: Coach all age groups in practice and at designated meets. Maintain and pursue continuing education related to all athletes at his/her level about proper stroke technique. Responsible for implementing/enforcing any and all rules or guidelines as outlined in the Team Handbook. Ensure proper communication with parents and swimmers Must be able to show support and belief in the WASC program structure as a whole. Salary will be commensurate with experience and amount of duties accepted.  Currently the team has a head coach and a team manager.  $35,000 - $55,000        

Job Responsibilities SCSC Coaching: Responsible for and directs all levels of programming, including lessons/precompetitive, competitive (developmental, age group, seniors), Develop and drive a consistent, team-wide coaching philosophy, which is age-appropriate, emphasizing excellence, goal setting, and team work Plans and oversees execution of all phases of the program relating to athlete performance to ensure consistency and continuity in skill development and progression Devise, communicate, and execute seasonal plans, practice schedules, and training, which support team and individual goals Ensure coaches are following the goals of the training plan Attract and develop coaches who create a pipeline for training and motivating swimmers at every level of the sport. Direct coaching staff, which includes establishing coach performance expectations and development, conducting annual performance reviews, coordinating, and tracking continuing education and required certifications, and building a cohesive coaching staff; emphasizing communication, knowledge sharing, and cooperation Guides the recruitment and retention of swimmers Coach, develop, and attract National Level Swimmers that set a world class standard for excellence in swimming Determines meet schedule (including travel trips) and criteria to participate Sets workout schedules to maximize use of facilities and to meet budgetary requirements Coaches a minimum of one group Stay abreast of current trends, policies, and rules related to USA Swimming Ensures coaching coverage for all USA Swim Meets attended by SCSC Authority to select clinics and national level meets for staff education, along with authority to select staff to attend Promotes and encourages swimmer participation in special programs and clinics offered by USA and Pacific Swimming Provides college guidance and promotion to Senior swimmers during their Junior year in High School and trains the coaching staff on how to provide this guidance Oversees the following relating to meets Disbursement of meet information Maintain best times for team Maintain team records SCSC Administration: Responsible for directing entire Wet side staff (all site coaches and assistant coaches and CFO) Establish leadership and communication systems for handling community, local, national, and international swim relationships on behalf of the SCSC now and in the future Is a member of the SCSC Board of Directors Oversight of all SCSC administration with the assistance of administrative staff per and in accordance with SCSC by-laws Responsible for the daily operations of SCSC Partner with, advise, and assist the Board of Directors in conducting strategic Board responsibilities including annual club budgeting, annual club goals, fiscal policies, fee structures, club communication, membership, meets, and fundraising Collaborate and make recommendations to the Board regarding staffing requirements and changes. Has authority to hire and fire staff within budget constraints Facilitates recruiting, retention, career development and growth for staff members: Provides written job descriptions and annual evaluations to the Board for all salaried coaching and administration staff, and supervises salaried staff in developing job descriptions and annual evaluations for hourly staff Plans and directs regular staff meetings Responsible for salary and bonus recommendations within budget constraints and approval from Board Communicates with the Board of Directors regarding all aspects of team management Primary responsibility for establishing processes for dealing with all coaching, staff, issues and partners with Program Director on member issues when applicable Schedules routine office hours for all full-time coaches and the office staff Provide bi-monthly reports on the state of the team to all Board members Ensure Program Director maintains the SCSC website, publish a regular newsletter to the club membership, attend community meetings, and represent SCSC at all appropriate community meetings. Create and communicate annual calendar of meets, training, fundraisers, and related membership events. Responsible to make sure all USA Swimming Club Excellence program paperwork is completed annually and turned in on time. Allocation of any grant money from this program is at the sole discretion of the Head Coach.
