Summer League Head Coach
The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team, Summer League Head Coach Summary : The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team is a summer league team located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, experienced head coach with excellent leadership skills to further develop and expand our existing team. The Piranhas are a member of the Rocky Mountain Swim League (RMSL), offering a competitive swim program for ages 6-18 plus a developmental program for ages 3-6. The team is governed by the Preserve Piranhas Swim Team Board comprised of volunteer parent representatives. The Head Coach works with direction from the Board to manage daily swim team operations, while striving to inspire youth swimmers of all levels through practice and competition. The Head Coach will have the knowledge and experience necessary to enhance the competitive and social atmosphere of the Piranhas team. The swim season generally runs from mid-May through mid-July, with some meetings/communications required in the months prior to the season. Requirements : Competitive swimming background with solid knowledge of, and ability to teach, competitive strokes, starts and turns. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with passion for swimming and positive, professional attitude; energetic, enthusiastic and motivated. Excellent organizational and time management skills and knowledge of meet-management software. Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, Board, volunteers, meet officials and opponent teams. Completion of concussion training (per RMSL policy); Safety Training for Swim Coaches/CPR/Lifeguard certification preferred. Must be able to pass background check. Key Responsibilities : Contribute to and advance the team mission. Provide coaching to ensure swimmer development and promote team dynamics. Implement and improve on the existing program to attract and retain swimmers. Provide positive representation of the team locally, regionally, and nationally. Exhibit professionalism and comply with the RMSL Coaches Code of Conduct. Demonstrate reliability. Punctuality and reliability is expected in meeting job performance requirements, including but not limited to attendance, timeliness, and deadlines. Develop and lead seasonal training plans and stroke clinics. Incorporate dryland strength training to complement water training. Provide leadership to assistant coaches for practices and meets, team and individual development, and promotion of the highest standards of sportsmanship. Prepare advance daily practice plan for entire season. Ensure all coaches are prepared in advance for every practice and meet. Complete meet entries by weekly deadlines and coordinate with opposing teams. Review meet results (including DQs) and work with swimmers to inspire and improve performance. Plan team-building activities to create excitement for our athletes and families. Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of team banquet. Promote a safe, comfortable, professional, team-oriented environment and spirit of competitiveness. Possess passion and excitement for the sport of swimming. Assistant Swim Team Coach for CAC Inverness in Englewood, CO Minimum Requirements ( either   have or willing to quickly obtain): Background Check – have or willing to obtain in 1 week; Drug Test – have or willing to obtain in 1 week; Former USS / USA Swimming athlete Former collegiate swimmer CPR / AED certification – have or willing to obtain in 3 weeks (Red Cross / American Heart Association CAC provides free classes to staff); First Aid / Choking certification - have or willing to obtain in 3 weeks (Red Cross / American Heart Association); Concussion certification – have or willing to obtain in 3 weeks (Safe Sport) Swim Coach Water Rescue certification – have or willing to obtain in 3 weeks (Red Cross) USA Swimming Coach certification – have or willing to obtain in 2 months (FYI - takes forever to get through training / certification) Reliable transportation Organized Helpful: Lifeguard certification (must be willing to pursue) Prior experience teaching swim lessons Certified Pool Operator or over 5 years experience working with pool equipment (filters, chemicals, heater, pumps) Experience as a parent or working with children Duties: Be on deck to help coach any age group Monday through Friday 4pm – 8pm Be generally available to teach swim lessons during the week during the daytime (able to coordinate schedule) Provide routine pool maintenance tasks throughout the week (brushing walls, cleaning gutters, testing chemicals, cleaning decks, fixing tiles, etc) Provide administrative support to the team and coach throughout the week with responding to emails, calendaring dates, handling parent questions, managing roster, etc. Compensation (per CAC generally): Hourly $12-$15/hr. coaching, pool maintenance, administrative support 60% commissions on any swim lessons taught No benefits Hours Per Week Monday – Friday (minimum 10 up to 50 hrs) Saturday – Sunday (optional & variable depending on availability, swim practice, swim lessons, swim meets)

Montrose Marlins Swim Club in Montrose, Colorado has an immediate opening for an experienced and enthusiastic Head Swim Coach. Title: Montrose Marlins Swim Club Head Coach Reports to: Board of Directors Position Status : Part-time, year round Montrose Marlins Swim Club is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Head Swim Coach candidate for our year-round competitive swim team, with a love for the sport who can work well with children and be able to communicate well with the coaching staff, swimmers, and their parents. The Montrose Marlins Swim Team is a USA Swimming affiliated, year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization under the direction of a volunteer parent run Board of Directors. We have 70-90 swimmers in six progressive training groups: Little Nemos, Zoomers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Juniors/Seniors that train year-round with a staff of five certified coaches. These groups are designed to provide athletes with a fun team atmosphere where swimmers of similar ability and commitment practice together and TEAM is emphasized in a competitive setting. We also offer an adult Masters swim group. The Marlins have swimmers from beginning age group to nationally-ranked athletes. This includes numerous zone, sectional and even junior national level athletes. Many of our Marlins alumni have gone on to swim collegiately at top-ranked universities, including the Air Force Academy, Denver University and Northwestern University. Team Site: www.montrosemarlins.org Coaching Responsibilities & Duties: • Plan and develop a competitive swim program. • Plan and develop engaging and level appropriate workouts. • Create a calendar of swim meets to attend throughout the year and encourage participation. • Develop and communicate team vision and goals. • Conduct, as applicable, individual swimmer/coach conferences to set goals for the season. • Supervise and evaluate assistant and junior coaches. • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and supervising all assistant coaches. • Create a safe, positive swimming environment, including bully prevention. • Be approachable and visible to all club members and all swim team families. • Bring an enthusiastic and energetic approach to each and every practice. • Maintain efficient communication with swimmers and parents regarding information necessary for the day to day functioning of the club. • Serve as the liaison with the Montrose Recreation District Staff. • Work with the Meet Director and Admin Official to develop and host the team’s three annual home meets, held in January, July and November each year. • Perform administrative duties for the team, including team membership and communication. Minimum Qualifications: • Must have USA Swimming Coach Certification Experience coaching various ages and skill levels in a competitive environment (ability to get in the water with younger swimmers). • Swimming experience at the club, high school or collegiate level. • Demonstrate working knowledge of competitive swimming strokes, techniques of competitive swimming/physical conditioning, rules and regulations. • Ability to set and achieve individual and team goals and encourage others to do the same • Driver’s license and ability to travel Salary Compensation is negotiable based on experience but ranges from $20 - $22/hour, and will average approximately 10-25 hours per week. The Marlins will also pay $50 per meet, plus lodging, miles, and per diem. Professional fees and continuing education opportunities are paid for/reimbursed by the team.
