Swim Lesson Coordinator Job Description Summary The Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the Swim Lesson Program including planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating lessons. Supervision Immediate Supervisor: Recreation Supervisor/Aquatics Qualifications The Swim Lesson Coordinator must be at least 18 years of age and hold the following current certifications: Lifeguard Training, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Water Safety Instructor. The Swim Lesson Coordinator must have experience in aquatic center operations including staffing, teaching lessons, and customer service. Essential Job Functions Organizes and directs the swimming lesson program. Supervises and schedules all swimming instructors in accordance with the Park District’s instructional swim program. Approves all substitutions of instructors, keeps and records hours of swimming instructors. Evaluates all swim instruction personnel and recommends hiring of qualified candidates and/or the dismissal of any employee who does not fulfill his/her responsibilities. Enforces pool rules and maintains discipline. Maintains WSI and knowledge of current Red Cross swim programs. Responds to inquiries and requests from staff, parents, and swim lesson participants. Ensures that all possible safety measures are observed, including taking care of proper equipment, conducting regular inspections, and training swim instructors. Assumes responsibility for health and safety of the lesson participants. Responds quickly and effectively to all rescue or emergency situations. Performs first aid techniques and rescue procedures as necessary. Completes Accident and Incident report forms to be turned in to the Recreation Supervisor/Aquatics or Aquatic/Facility Supervisor. Oversees and maintains training of all swim lesson instructors. Responds quickly and effectively to all rescue or emergency situations. Performs first aid techniques and rescue procedures as necessary. Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee manual. Schedules and attends required trainings and meetings. Wears uniform on duty. Sets example for all employees in conduct, dress, and manners. Performs related duties as required.
