The Tiger sharks  team is a competitive program for swimmers ages 5-18+ years. We are a small but growing team of currently 40 swimmers who compete throughout Maine, in USA  swimming events! The head coach is responsible for screening/evaluating team members, helping swimmers develop goals, planning practices, scheduling meets, working with parent volunteers as well as providing on deck coaching at practices and all swim meets.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Organize and conduct practice workouts that are developmentally appropriate, well organized, and which demonstrate trackable progression throughout the course of the season. Develop a team culture that is focused on Youth Development, which rewards effort and commitment, not only results. Assist swimmers in developing, evaluating, and achieving goals. Schedule, organize, and administer home and away meets, making sure all necessary paperwork is completed in submitted on time. Remain current and educated with developments in the field of competitive swimming. Incorporate this knowledge via delivery of Tiger Sharks swim team practices, meets and special events. Work with Tiger shark Parents who may wish to assist the Head Coach with organizational and administrative functions such as officiating or fund raising. Keep families updated with team information through email and team Facebook page. Administer entering swimmers into meets,  running the team online store,  and marketing and recruiting for the team . Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or other related field preferred. Job Title:  SWIM TEAM HEAD COACH Status: PART TIME Department: AQUATICS Reports to: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP & WELLNESS Hourly Rate: $16 to $18 per hour POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, the Swim Team Head Coach is responsible for organizing and conducting practices, clinics, meets and other events for the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team.  This team is sponsored by the Wallingford Family YMCA and participates in the Yankee Cluster Swim League. This program is conducted in accordance with the missions and policies of the Wallingford Family YMCA, the YMCA of the USA, and USA Swimming.   This is a part-time position, not to exceed 40 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Contribute to and supervise the fulfillment of the YMCA Mission and character development values through the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team program. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, will assist in recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, motivating and evaluating swim team staff, as well as taking disciplinary action up to and including termination as needed. Recruit and oversee the Parent’s Association volunteers, attend monthly Parent Association meetings or arrange a coach representative. Assure that monthly all-parent meetings are held (this can include the spring banquet) where parents vote on Association budget and membership and any other business. Encourage recruitment of swimmers through YMCA swim lesson programs as well as other YMCA youth programs in collaboration with the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and the Aquatics Director. Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system of the status and progress of each swimmer. In conjunction with the assistant swim coaches, prepare all meet entries assuring that every child swims in every meet they attend. Develop a schedule for swim team practices across multiple facilities, and develop competitive swim clinics each year. Update, maintain, and distribute the Dolphin Swim Team handbook. Communicate regularly with Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and with all coaches. Maintain communication and rapport with all swimmers and their parents. Demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude towards the team and provide a positive learning environment for all. Oversee the Dolphins website and other social media and ensure that it is kept up to date. Assist in the preparation of an annual budget under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, and manage that budget for the Dolphins Swim Team program in accordance with established procedures and expectations. Represent the Wallingford Family YMCA at YMCA regional events and trainings. Assist with the evaluation and improvement of the swim team program.  Assist with the creation of new programs and new collaborations. Evaluate all programs annually to ensure they meet the needs of program participants. Continue to develop and evaluate the USA Swimming program as part of the Dolphins Swim program. Report any facility problems, needed repairs to the Facility Director following the work order procedure. Keep current with swim coaching techniques and issues. Membership in ASCA recommended. Keep all certifications current and monitor coaching staff to ensure their certifications are also kept current.  All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of Lifeguarding (YMCA or ARC) and CPR/AED/AEO is required.   Coaching certifications from YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming. Certification from ASCA is preferred.  Two to four years competitive coaching experience is required.   Two years Head Coach preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate recognized principles and practices of coaching young swimmers.   Demonstrated ability to build a team of quality coaches. Great communication skills a must as well as supervision and public relations skills.   Sexual harassment training must be obtained within 6 months.  Additional certifications preferred: Lifeguard Management, WSI and/or Y Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Pool Operator. We are located in Farmington, NM.  We are a year-round competitive age group swim team. Our swimmers range from age 5- 18 primarily with varying levels of abilities. Madras Aquatic Center Recreation District 1195 SE Kemper Way Madras, OR 97741 541-475-4253 MADRAS SWIM TEAM (MST) HEAD COACH JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Employment Salary: $16.00- $20.00/hour, will average approximately 16-20 hours per week PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide youth swim coaching to the Madras Aquatic Center Recreation District (MAC Rec. District), Madras Swim Team and Master Swimmers. CONTRACT DATES: Monday, August 5th, or sooner KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Maintain and coordinate all coaching duties with all facets of the MST Team, including organizing and planning of all practices and game strategies, scheduling of competitive meets, training and health education of athletes, and recruiting of athletes for the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Utilizes developmentally appropriate teaching techniques to instruct diverse participant groups. 2. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of swim meets, swimmer eligibility, stroke and turn and other related aspects of competitive swimming. 3. Plan and execute structured workouts and coordinate competitive events. 4. Observes athletes detect and correct mistakes; provides feedback on performance. 5. Adapts teaching approaches to the age, experience, and ability of participants. 6. Promotes team spirit and good sportsmanship at all times. 7. Effectively communicates verbally to supervisors, staff, and participants. Keeps participants and parents informed about their progress. Informs coordinator and/or supervisor of any safety issues or concerns. 8. Ensures the safety of all program participants by enforcement of pool policies and rules; submit Accident/Incident Reports to the Supervisor within 24-hours of the incident. 9. Maintains professionalism at all times. 10. Perform related duties as assigned 11. Work closely with and communicate with the MST board of directors, and assist with fundraising efforts 12. Licensure/Certification required: Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR Safety Training for Swim Coaches must be obtained within a month after hire. The lifeguard class will be offered after the hire date if needed. USA Swimming Coach membership must be completed within 1 week of hire. Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (as defined by the insurance carriers’ guidelines). ASCA Level II certification and above is a plus 5. Job Knowledge: Knowledge of swimming techniques and teaching tools, exercise physiology, stroke development, competitive swim strategies, training, and physical health, swimming rules and regulations. 6. Special requirements: Applicants must be physically capable of sustained walking, standing, climbing. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours; including evenings, weekends, and holidays. JERSEY STORM SWIMMING is seeking a motivated, innovative, and inspirational head coach to continue to grow our team and inspire and improve the performance of our swimmers. Jersey Storm is a non-profit, year-round, USA Swimming competitive swim team of 80+ swimmers that is managed by a Parent Board of Directors. Our competitive program consists of three levels: Senior, Junior, and Developmental. We also run a year-round pre-team (swim lesson) program. We are located in northern Burlington County, NJ (Middle Atlantic LSC) and our practice facility is on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The team is currently growing.  We are located in an area with an increasing population & we have members from many surrounding towns and counties. The Head Coach position is a 6 day/wk position (~3-4hrs/day coaching) plus weekend meets approximately once or twice per month. Additional off-deck time required to fulfill other head coaching duties and responsibilities. The position offers a competitive salary, sick pay, paid time off, and reimbursement for board approved travel and certification/educational fees required for the position.
