Aquatics Director
The Salem YMCA is seeking a leader with a background in aquatics to manage the operations of our Aquatics Department.   The Aquatics Director is responsible for all aspects of the instructional and recreational aquatics experience. Located in the heart of downtown Salem, the Salem YMCA provides over 150 swim lessons to youth weekly, offers aqua activities for all ages, and is host to a local High School Swim Team.  Key responsibilities of this role include recruiting, retaining and transitioning swimmers of all ages and abilities through the programs and working collaboratively with the competitive team to achieve a successful conversion rate of instructional swimmers to the competitive program. Through strong leadership, efficient planning, high quality engagement, and direct service, the Aquatics Director manages staff, provides guidance on the technical and physical skills of swimming, creates an environment of fun that develops relationships, achievement and belonging while fostering a lifelong love of swimming and the water.  The incumbent in this role will enjoy connecting with participants and visitors of all ages, have the ability to carry out Aquatics initiatives that meet the goals of the organization, and have a strong skill set in planning and leading others. Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience. At least 21 years of age with 3-5 years experience as a competitive coach, preferably in a leadership capacity. At least one year of staff supervision experience including one evaluative cycle and demonstrated ability to positively develop and support exceptional performance. Current USA Swimming and or YMCA Swim coach credentials. Certified Pool Operator CPO, CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with YMCA standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to relate to individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Enthusiastic presence and ability to appropriately encourage and guide youth and adults to reach their goals. Pool Manager
The Village of Shorewood Hills is accepting applications for the position of Pool Manager. This is presently a part time, year round position with seasonally adjusted and flexible hours. The position is responsible for managing all operations of the pool including staffing, purchasing, programming and mechanical functions including opening and closing. During the summer season, the pool employs about 70-80 individuals. The Village encourages a wide range of individuals to apply, including those with management, aquatics programming, and staffing expertise. Mechanical/technical aptitudes in maintaining a pool are desirable. The Shorewood Hills Pool is a 50-Meter, 10-lane, outdoor facility.  There is an additional wading pool with water features as well as a concession area and locker room facilities.  The pool has a diving well incorporated into the deep end, with two, 1-meter diving boards.  Our pool operates on seasonal memberships that are open to both Shorewood Hills residents as well as those from around the Madison area.  A typical day at the pool will incorporate open swim times as well as organized programs that include swim and dive lessons, swim and dive teams, water ballet, masters swimming, and water aerobics.  The pool is generally in use from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM.  In addition, we host several events including such things as a water ballet show, a triathlon, swim and dive meets, and various membership events.    To apply complete a Village employment application, along with a cover letter, and resume. Our team is building a new aquatic center (just north of Tulsa, OK) and expanding into a new swim school! Our plan includes providing swim instruction, with an overall progression that leads to our national level swim team. Our new facility will house a teaching pool, and 8 lane, 25 yard hi-tech training pool. We are currently searching for an experienced aquatics director / swim school manager to lead our swim academy (Waves Swim Academy) and overall programming at our brand new aquatic center. Our USA-Swimming Swim Club, Trident Aquatics, has proven very successful helping athletes reach national level competition, national rankings, and even the Olympic Trials.
