The Salem YMCA is seeking a leader with a background in aquatics to manage the operations of our Aquatics Department.   The Aquatics Director is responsible for all aspects of the instructional and recreational aquatics experience. Located in the heart of downtown Salem, the Salem YMCA provides over 150 swim lessons to youth weekly, offers aqua activities for all ages, and is host to a local High School Swim Team.  Key responsibilities of this role include recruiting, retaining and transitioning swimmers of all ages and abilities through the programs and working collaboratively with the competitive team to achieve a successful conversion rate of instructional swimmers to the competitive program. Through strong leadership, efficient planning, high quality engagement, and direct service, the Aquatics Director manages staff, provides guidance on the technical and physical skills of swimming, creates an environment of fun that develops relationships, achievement and belonging while fostering a lifelong love of swimming and the water.  The incumbent in this role will enjoy connecting with participants and visitors of all ages, have the ability to carry out Aquatics initiatives that meet the goals of the organization, and have a strong skill set in planning and leading others. Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience. At least 21 years of age with 3-5 years experience as a competitive coach, preferably in a leadership capacity. At least one year of staff supervision experience including one evaluative cycle and demonstrated ability to positively develop and support exceptional performance. Current USA Swimming and or YMCA Swim coach credentials. Certified Pool Operator CPO, CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills in accordance with YMCA standards and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to relate to individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Enthusiastic presence and ability to appropriately encourage and guide youth and adults to reach their goals. Assistant Swim Coach- Lead Senior Coach
acac is seeking a lead competitive coach to work primarily with our senior swimmers in our competitive team. acac also offers USMS Masters Swimming, a non competitive swim program and a summer recreational swim team.  The Assistant Coach conducts practices for acac swim team members following the head coach’s guidelines. The Assistant Coach works with children of different ages and ability levels so that they progress effectively to higher levels of swimming. Essential Functions and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): On deck coaching primarily weekday mornings 5:00 -8:00am (Tuesday - Friday, some Saturdays). Other shifts may become available. Responsible for daily, weekly and season planning for the Senior group with the Head Coach and may attend 1 - 2 meets a month. Plans and conducts effective and progressive practices (in water and dryland) on a solo platform, with assistance from Head Coach. Maintains vigilance while conducting practice in order to maintain constant control of the group and emphasize safety at all times. Safety is our number one concern, thus acac swim team keeps Safe Sport at the forefront of our program. Successful completion of all certifications required by USA swimming, The ability to address swimmers of various skill levels as well as coordinate effective practices for all parties in attendance. Promote the sport of swimming in a positive and enthusiastic manner to swimmers, their families and our club members. Understand and address that swimming is a lifelong sport and thus educate participants the healthy benefits of technically proficient strokes. RESPONSIBILITIES Performs the Essential Functions and Responsibilities as described (other duties may be assigned) If unable to work, proactively seeks substitutes for shifts and immediately informs supervisor of the substitution Wears proper uniform at all times while at work and always presents the acac brand and standard anytime and anywhere the acac uniform is worn Exhibits a positive attitude at all times and upholds acac’s values of teamwork, customer service, and engagement Attend Staff meetings and other professional trainings as required. AQUATICS LIFEGUARD & SAFETY COORDINATOR
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director and within the policies established by the Wallingford Family YMCA, the Aquatics Lifeguard & Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering of Lifeguard in-service trainings, conducting staff evaluations, and weekly scheduling for lifeguard staff. The Aquatics Lifeguard & Safety Coordinator will supervise Lifeguard staff ensure the highest quality and safety for all members and program participants. Weekend and daytime hours required in coordination with the Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Uphold and exemplify high standards of customer service. Assist in recruitment, training, development, and evaluation of aquatics staff.  Coordinate substitute procedures for staff; record all changes and maintain up-to-date staff schedule. Be accountable for coverage of all assigned lifeguard shifts.  Supervise aquatic staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Ensure records of staff certification are current and complete. Assist with evaluation of lifeguard staff for Initial Reviews (within the first 90 days) Work the opening pool shift at least 3 mornings per week Keep informed of all changes in the schedule and upcoming events Gather information and prepare reports as directed.  Participate on at least one committee within the YMCA or community.  Create and run at minimum one Aquatic Safety & Awareness event per year.  Participate in and/or volunteer for at least one Community Support Campaign event per year. Inspect and ensure high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of aquatic equipment and supplies, including first aid supplies.  Test and manage pools in accordance with Wallingford Family YMCA policies and guidelines, including, but not limited to, chemical levels and emergency situations.                                                    JOB DESCRIPTION Department Aquatics Location Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, 9900 Terwall Terrace, Pleasant Prairie WI 53158 Job Title Aquatics Manager Classification Salary/Exempt Pay Range $57,774 - $72,217 Annually   FT29 Relocation Expense Reimbursement Available   Job Summary This position is a professional managerial position under the direct supervision of the Operations Superintendent with secondary supervision by the Director of Recreation. The primary purpose of the Aquatics Manager is to provide outstanding service through warm interactions.  The secondary responsibilities are to manage and supervise all employees and operations of the Aquatics Division including both the leisure pool and competition pool, and beach in a professional manner.  Other responsibilities include: program planning and administration, leadership and coaching for our competitive swim team, personnel and budget management, and aquatic facility and equipment management. Employees in this classification must represent the RecPlex in a professional manner, while instructing and monitoring personnel, members, guests, and program participants.   Job Duties ·Must be able to manage the competitive swim team including working with existing coaches and staff while growing the team in numbers and talent. ·Responsible for managing the Learn to Swim lesson program while growing participant numbers and swim instructors. ·Responsible for recruiting championship bids and the bid process for hosting and managing rented and hosted swim meets, open water swims, and events both indoor and outdoor. ·Interface with RecPlex Website, Guest Services, RecPlex Managers, and Business Office on all Aquatics Programming. ·Coordinate aquatics marketing plans. ·Must be capable of scheduling, training, supervising and evaluating a large number of lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic personnel of varying ages and emotional maturity. ·Must meet or exceed budget targets for revenues, and budget limits for labor costs and direct costs. ·Must facilitate staff meetings with aquatic staff and swim team. ·Must maintain administrative records and create reports including:  attendance reports, program reports, payroll documentation including approval of employee time sheets, accident reports and personnel evaluations; conduct regular performance reviews, at prescribed intervals; keep staff informed of regular, new and upcoming activities, events, policies, programs and so on. ·Work with outside vendors and sponsors to make sure we are adhering to agreements and promoting best business practices. ·Must be able to coordinate with other recreation managers, facility supervisors and school administrators for scheduling and reservations of program facilities. ·Must create a positive hospitality and be accessible and visible. ·Must establish and maintain a set work schedule; ensure adequate coverage during all hours of operation; work within payroll budget in areas of responsibility. ·Must be energetic, enthusiastic and motivational. ·Must know and enforce all RecPlex, Village and department rules, regulations, policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines. ·Must work shifts as Manager on Duty including: opening/closing of the facility; physical inspection of the entire building; ensure safety of employees and patrons in the facility and administer CPR or first aid as needed; set up, put away and maintain athletic equipment; maintain cash control of the safe and front desk drawer; complete paperwork. ·Must have the ability to apply principles of influence, such as motivation, incentive and leadership systems. ·Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. ·Maintain effective working relationships with employees, peers, coordinators, and the public. ·Ability to visually monitor pool and beach areas and respond quickly to emergency situations. ·Ability to obtain and maintain preferred certifications. ·Requires the ability to perform highly skilled coordinated movements, such as utilizing a rescue tube, spinal board, Shepherd’s Crook and other safety and first aid procedures. ·Must have knowledge of life guarding techniques; Jeff Ellis & Associates swimming programs; pool safety; water chemistry. ·Must be able to perform other duties and special assignments as directed by the Operations Superintendent and Director of Recreation including assignments that may be outside the primary area of employment.     Physical Requirements ·Requires high degree of interaction and communication with staff and public.  Works closely with Operations Superintendents, RecPlex Managers, and Director of Recreation.  Work subject to varying shifts.  Majority of work performed is indoors in an aquatic atmosphere.  The work requires long periods of attentiveness, standing, sitting, pulling, pushing, reaching, carrying, cleaning, visual monitoring, verbal and written communication, hearing, moderate lifting 15-50 pounds, periods of extensive public contact and exposure to stressful and emergency situations. ·RecPlex is located in Prairie Springs Park at 9900 Terwall Terrance, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.  Hours will vary with evening, weekend, and holiday work required.  Work is usually performed during typical daytime and early evening hours, but diversity of special events and workload, as well as available staffing and budget, requires weekend and evening hours.   Requirements - educational, certifications and experience ·Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Business or related field is required.  Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 - 10 years of aquatics experience with significant experience coaching and managing a competitive swim team. Strong verbal and written skills are mandatory as well as high proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.  Extensive customer service and public relations are required.   Coaching Policy Athletic/team Coaches are hired to instruct/teach specific skills where the coach is the teacher and the player(s) is/are the learner(s) and instill teamwork both during team practices and games.  Coaches are not hired to participate with the players during scrimmages or active play, or endurance/strength training.

Assistant Age Group Coaching Position
We are looking for an assistant age group coach to start with our club May 2020. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, enthusiastic and good with younger, beginning swimmers. We are located in Farmington, NM.  We are a year-round competitive age group swim team. Our swimmers range from age 5- 18 primarily with varying levels of abilities. Hours would be Monday-Friday 5:45 pm-7:45 pm in addition to morning practice during summer months 7:00 am-9:00 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Some weekend travel to meets as needed. Travel reimbursement available to be discussed upon hire. Some administrative work may apply as directed by the board or head coach. Salary depending on experience. AGUA Masters Head Coach
Asphalt Green Masters is one of the fastest growing adult swim teams in the country with more than 250 registered members with a wide range of ages and swim abilities.  The AGUA Masters Head Coach is responsible for leading the overall growth and development of the AGUA Masters team as well as supporting Asphalt Green’s non-profit efforts.  AGUA Masters offers 25+ weekly practices in 2 locations, and a robust staff of 20 part-time coaches.  The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and preserving a progressive training program that supports athletes of all skill levels.  Moreover, the Head Coach focuses on increasing swimmer engagement and enhancing the team’s overall sense of community.  As the Masters champion for fundraising, the Head Coach works closely with the Development Team to insure that AGUA Masters team members appreciate and support Asphalt Green’s non-profit mission of assisting individuals of all ages and backgrounds achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness.  The Head Coach requires outstanding interpersonal skills in order to foster positive relationships with every Masters swimmer, and the ability to support personal development of these swimmers as appropriate.   Within the larger Asphalt Green community, the Head Coach will work in partnership with the Aquatics Department, Membership Department, Development Department, senior managers, and other AG stakeholders.  This position reports into the Director of Aquatics and oversees the AGUA Masters Team at both the Upper East Side campus as well as the Battery Park City campus.  New campuses are planned in the next few years that would also include Agua Masters Teams.   Responsibilities  Oversee year-round training program of roughly 250 Asphalt Green Masters Plan and schedule coaches each month for practices. Make sure all workouts are covered. Manage 20 part-time coaches who coach both workouts and private lessons. Must be highly visible, leading select practices (which include morning’s and Saturday’s), and engaging with all athletes.  Should personally be coaching 16-20 hours per week. Organize and promote social activities for the team Plan and develop financial budgets for team and private lessons for two campuses. Work with marketing to promote increased membership and private coaching.  Work closely with Development Department to identify potential donors and establish key relationships with members. Our team is building a new aquatic center (just north of Tulsa, OK) and expanding into a new swim school! Our plan includes providing swim instruction, with an overall progression that leads to our national level swim team. Our new facility will house a teaching pool, and 8 lane, 25 yard hi-tech training pool. We are currently searching for an experienced aquatics director / swim school manager to lead our swim academy (Waves Swim Academy) and overall programming at our brand new aquatic center.
