Program Director
The Aiken-Augusta Swim League (ASL) is currently seeking to fill the position of Program Director/Head Coach (PD). ASL is looking for a PD who is interested in bringing this established team to the next level while having the opportunity to create his/her own unique swim club product. ASL was founded in 1969 and is known throughout the eastern Georgia and western South Carolina region as a strong, year-round swim team. It is the only USA Swimming program in Augusta, GA and one of three in the Central Savannah River Area (GA & SC MSA with population approaching 800,000). Although ASL swims in the GA LSC, given its location on the Georgia /South Carolina border, it shares a healthy relationship with teams in both states. We offer a guided age-group youth program for children age 6 and up, from the beginning swimmer to the most competitive and skilled swimmer. Many of our swimmers go on to swim at the collegiate level, including several in Division I programs. We currently have approximately 200 swimmers with room for future growth. We have three sites to accommodate our swimmers including two in Augusta, GA (Augusta Aquatic Center (50m Olympic sized pool) and Brigham Center) and one in Aiken, SC (University of South Carolina Aiken Natatorium). The PD will be responsible for administering all of the swimming programs for ASL. The PD will be a certified coach member of USA Swimming and ASCA certified level 3 or higher. He/she shall be responsible for the management of the club’s coaches, including coaches' training, delegation of duties, practice schedule development, and communication with aquatic center staff. The Program Director should display strong administrative and technology skills as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills. He/she shall be responsible for club communication of policies, season training plans, parental communication, general PR for the team, and other activities in consultation with the ASL board of directors. He/she will maintain a good reputation, exhibit high moral standards, and set good examples for the team and his/her staff. The PD reports to the ASL board of directors, is evaluated by the President of ASL, and is responsible for meeting the agreed upon yearly budget. Nestled along the banks of the Savannah River, Augusta is the second largest and oldest city in Georgia. While Augusta has the historic charm of the classic South, it is also currently one of the fastest growing areas in the United States due to the consolidation of the US Army’s Cyber Command at Fort Gordon coupled with a vibrant medical community. Augusta boasts dozens of shops and restaurants, cultural, and historic attractions and is approximately 150 miles east of Atlanta on Interstate 20. Lake Thurmond is minutes away and is one of the Southeast’s largest and most popular public recreation lakes. Augusta is also centrally located just two and a half hours from the beach and the mountains. Finally, Augusta is home to the best known golf tournament in the world, The Masters. The position’s salary is $50,000 -$65,000 based on training and experience. A relocation package is negotiable. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating USA Swimming-based season training plans (pool and dryland), athlete and staff development, scheduling (training and competition), daily team administration, and operations (Hy-Tek Team Manager, TeamUnify platform, etc). The position offering will remain open until November 1 or until the position is filled. Interested applicants are asked to email their resumes to: Rebecca G.
