Who we are:
The purpose of the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA Swim Team is to use competition as a means of learning the lifelong values of goal setting and discipline for success. Swimmers will learn to improve their skills as well as learn the value of teamwork and sportsmanship within a safe, healthy, and positive competitive atmosphere led by capable coaches. Our coaches exemplify YMCA leaders who strive to build not only character but children who are healthy in bodies, mind, and spirit.
The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA swim team is a nationally recognized competitive team that trains over 200 swimmers year-round. The Competitive Swimming Director/Head Coach will lead the team to continued competitive excellence and is supported by an experienced and dedicated staff of coaches who work daily to nurture competitive swimmers’ potential across all ages and performance levels. The Competitive Swimming Director is responsible for guiding the coaches, swimmers, and parents as a team to attain its goals and objectives. He/she oversees the general planning of the National Team. Communication lines are to be well established with staff, swimmers, and parents. All members of the coaching staff report directly to the Competitive Swimming Director.
Our highly trained and qualified coaching professionals guide each swimmer's career, from in-house meets to National level competitions. We focus on training the whole athlete, including nutritional education, mental approach to training and racing, dry land exercise (including injury prevention circuits and strength & conditioning routines), and a strong emphasis on technical proficiency in the water.
A parent Committee provides support to the Head Coach and Team in a variety of different functions. The Head Coach reports directly to the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA Senior Program Director
