UIC Department of Intercollegiate Athletics

UIC’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is a nationally competitive Division I program serving nearly 300 student athletes in 18 sports, which have won numerous conference championships and awards for both academic excellence and community engagement. The aim of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is to project the University’s image as a national competitor in athletics while enriching the lives of student-athletes by providing opportunities for physical, intellectual, and social growth. As a Division I athletic program in a major city with highly competitive programs, UIC’s athletic mission is to attract top notch student-athletes reflecting the rich tradition of our students’ competitive work ethic and the campus’ ethnic and gender diversity. The Department’s goal is to win conference championships regularly and to be nationally competitive in men’s and women’s sports each year while demonstrating high standards of sportsmanship and ethical conduct. The University provides student-athletes with academic assistance to enhance opportunities for graduation, creates an enthusiastic arena in which student-athletes compete and showcase UIC’s winning team through effective media coverage.
