NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, founded in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focuses on age-appropriate, targeted training to help our swimmers learn proper technique. Our year-round team is comprised of over 750 swimmers along with 2,000 swimmers in our SwimNOVA lessons program. NOVA operates two Aquatic Centers in the West End of Richmond. The Regency facility features an eight-lane 50-meter pool and two three-lane 25-yard pools. The Gayton facility provides two 25-meter x 25-yard ten-lane pools. Both Aquatics Centers utilize state-of-the-art air handling and filtration systems. NOVA has the capacity to hosts both short course and long course swim meets year-round. Our coaching staff, led by Head Coach David Schreck, is among the best in the country with nineteen full-time professional coaches who are committed to making each swimmer the best that they can be, in swimming and in life.
NOVA is a parent-run organization with an elected Board of Directors, focused on bringing best practices to our club. USA Swimming recognizes NOVA as a premier club, earning the coveted Gold Club of Excellence designation. NOVA has earned USA Swimming Virtual Club Top Ten rankings since the program started in 2003. Our team has brought home multiple Virginia State Championship titles at the Age Group and Senior level each year since 2000. Twelve of our senior-level swimmers qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials, nine qualified in 2016, and six competed in 2020. Townley Haas, 2016 Gold Medalist in the 4 x 200 m Freestyle Relay, is a graduate of the NOVA program.
NOVA's focus is not only on swimming. We help kids learn skills they will need throughout life: discipline, goal setting, time management, healthy habits and more. NOVA delivers this learning is in a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment filled with friendship and fun.
