Founded in 2008, the mission of the Blue Wave Swim Team is to develop the highest level of personal excellence as a swimmer, individual, and community member by encouraging the healthy individual growth of mind, body and spirit through competitive swimming by provide a competitive program committed to:

  • Providing athletes with superior training in a fun, positive and competitive atmosphere. 
  • Adhering to the core YMCA values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respect. 
  • Developing the values of good sportsmanship, teamwork, and goal-setting. 
  • Developing life-long skills which can be used to enrich the quality of the athlete’s spiritual, social, mental and physical wellbeing.

As a part of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City we serve the greater metro area and are always looking for passionate staff to help us grow to serve more athletes.

Part Time YMCA/USA Head Site Coach
RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. Work with the Director of Competitive Swimming to develop a schedule of practices and swim meets for the season and inform swimmers and parents of any schedule changes. Work with the Director of Competitive Swimming to develop a season plan for in-pool and dryland training Position involves weekend or extended hours and travel to offsite events Assist Director of Competitive Swimming to maintain team roster and ensure tracking, attendance and follow-up of program participants.
