The City of Calabasas is currently looking for a year-round swim coach for both the novice and master swim programs. The Coach will be responsible to take attendance, plan and organize workouts that improve technique, proper stroke foundations, teach stroke and proper form, teach race starts and turns, build endurance and speed. Novice workouts are held Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm-6:30pm with master directly following from 6:30pm-7:45pm.
Vacation/breaks include: no workouts scheduled on all federal holidays, fall break (1 week for Thanksgiving), winter break (2 weeks in December/January), spring break (varies with Las Virgenes school district March-April), the first 2 weeks in June (graduation pool parties at the facility) and the week of July 4th. This is a “non-competitive” swim program and swimmers/team does not participate in dual swim meets. “In house” swim meets are held the last day of each session and more if the Coach would like.
Swim Coach requirements: at least 18yrs+, aquatic experience (has participated in high school and/or college swim teams, travel swim team), has taught swim lessons 2yrs +, coached a novice swimmer/swim team.
Applicants must also be currently certified in the following certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard, Professional Rescuer American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and American Red Cross Swim Coach Water Safety.
Part time position, starting hourly rate $30.00, 16-18 hours per week.
