St Pete Masters

Overview:

St. Pete Masters (SPM) is recruiting for a part-time Head Coach who will manage and grow the operations and membership of the masters swimming program.  St Pete Masters is one of the first and longest-running masters swim clubs in the United States that encompasses a vibrant community of nearly 200 swimmers.

The Head Coach will have interest and experience coaching a wide range of adult swimmers with varying abilities and goals, foster a welcoming and positive swimming environment, and be responsible for on-deck coaching of 11 practices weekly. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in current swim technique and periodized training methodologies, and provide constructive feedback to swimmers, as needed. Secondary responsibilities of the Head Coach include encouraging member participation in USMS events, and strategic organization of relays for national rankings.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a safe, positive, and engaging environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the SPM Board of Directors.
  • Communicate effectively with SPM swimmers, NSAC Staff, and the swimming community.
  • Develop and implement training programs tailored to various skill levels and abilities.
  • Provide on-deck coaching of 11 practices weekly (M-F 5:30-7:00 am; M-F 4:00-6:30 pm; Sun 9-10:30 am).
  • Evaluate swimmers’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist in the coordination of local, regional, and national meets and relay assignments.
  • Provide on-deck support at Home swim meets.
  • Manage part-time assistant coaches, as needed.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including but not limited to, communicating with new and visiting members and growing the team membership.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in competitive swimming and coaching, preferably with adult swimmers.
  • Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $25-40/hour, based on experience and size of membership
  •  Paid training opportunities for USMS coach certifications and continuing education
