The University Hills Narwhals are a summer swim team that is part of the Irvine Swim League. The team is open to all University Hills children age 5-18 as of June 1 of each year. Every year from the beginning of June to mid-August, practice sessions are offered at the Coltrane Pool between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm, with each age group assigned to a 60-minute time slot (15 minutes of stretching and 45 minutes of swimming), with swim meets held on Saturday mornings.
Though Narwhals coaches helps swimmers improve strokes and turns, this is not a "learn to swim" group. Children should be water-safe to participate. A good rule of thumb is whether they can get across the pool (one lap) safely on their own.
