Soundview Family YMCA
A Branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA

The Soundview Family YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the communities of Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, and North Branford by putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. As one of the 14 branches of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, we are committed to ensuring that every individual and family has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, regardless of age, background, or financial circumstances.

Serving more than 7,000 individuals annually, the Soundview Family YMCA provides a wide range of programs focused on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Our services include early childhood education, before and after school care, summer day camps, swim lessons, competitive swimming, health and wellness programs, group exercise, chronic disease prevention initiatives, youth sports, and community outreach.

Water safety and youth development are at the heart of our mission. Through partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and national initiatives, the YMCA provides hundreds of children each year with access to life-saving swim instruction, many of whom would otherwise be unable to afford these opportunities. We also offer evidence-based health programs, including LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA for cancer survivors, Rock Steady Boxing for individuals living with Parkinson's disease, and programs that promote lifelong wellness for all ages.

More than a fitness center, the Soundview Family YMCA is a community hub where families connect, children gain confidence, older adults remain active, and neighbors support one another. Through financial assistance and generous community partnerships, we work to ensure that no one is turned away because of an inability to pay, removing barriers so everyone has the opportunity to belong.

Located in Branford, Connecticut, the Soundview Family YMCA continues to serve as a trusted community partner, responding to local needs and creating lasting impact through programs that inspire healthy living, foster meaningful relationships, and strengthen the shoreline communities we proudly serve.

Founded in 1972 as the Branford Stingrays, the team partnered with the Soundview Family YMCA in 2010 to become the Soundview YMCA Stingrays (SYS). As a proud member of USA Swimming and YMCA of the USA Competitive Swimming, SYS is a year-round competitive swim program dedicated to developing swimmers of all ages and abilities in a positive, challenging, and supportive environment.

Our program emphasizes proper stroke technique, starts, turns, conditioning, and race strategy while fostering character, confidence, and a lifelong love of swimming. We measure success not by the achievements of just a few elite athletes, but by the growth and improvement of every swimmer in our program. Through hard work, self-discipline, teamwork, and mutual support, our athletes develop the skills and confidence to become the best swimmers—and people—they can be.

Soundview YMCA Stingrays compete at every level of the sport, from local and regional meets to YMCA National Championships, USA Swimming championship meets, and Olympic Trials. The team trains year-round, with the short course season running from September through March and the long course season from April through July.

Whether a swimmer's goal is to build confidence, achieve personal bests, qualify for championship competition, or pursue collegiate and national-level opportunities, the Soundview YMCA Stingrays provide the coaching, support, and community to help every athlete reach their full potential.
