The Wiregrass Aquatics Club (WAC, also known as the Wiregrass Waves) is a non-profit organization that was started to better serve the swimming needs and interests of the youth in the Wiregrass area of Alabama. WAC is a parent run team with a parent Board of Directors. While Waves practices are held on Ft. Rucker in pools run by Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (DFMWR), the club is open to military and civilians alike. The club follows all of the rules and regulations mandated by DFMWR and the Ft. Rucker installation.
WAC is a USA Swimming team and all members of the club must also be members of USA Swimming, competing in Short Course season (25 yards/meter pools) during the school year and Long Course season (50 meter pools) during the summer months. USA Swimming is the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming. The Waves fall under the Southeastern Swimming Local Swimming Committee (LSC) of USA Swimming, consisting of TN, AL and Northern FL. The Wiregrass Aquatics Club is host to the Enterprise High School Swim Team, who compete as the Waves at USA Swimming events, and compete as EHS at the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Swim Meet.
