We are seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to join our team. Under the direction of the Association Aquatics Executive and responsible to the Family Center Executive Director, the Senior Director of Aquatics & Competitive Swimming is responsible for providing Cause-Driven leadership to the Aquatics department and Competitive Swimming program across multiple sites and serves on the center management team, playing an integral role in membership acquisition, engagement, and retention. The Senior Director will be responsible for creating and implementing an integrated program strategy to support membership while delivering services as outlined by the association to include organization-wide standards and consistencies throughout all aquatic and competitive swimming programs. The Senior Director will provide supervision to multiple aquatic department staff teams driving superior program quality, ensuring all programs support membership, increasing program enrollments, and enhancing the member/participant experience. This position ensures that their teams operate efficiently and employs a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for member/participant satisfaction, financial management and overall growth. Critical areas of expertise include: leading others and working in teams, highly organized multi-program management, delivering and managing programs focusing on quality, proven results in growth in programs, successfully overseeing a Coordinator, part-time and entry-level teams and interviewing, hiring and onboarding associates. Education/ Experience Required: • BA/BS in Sports Management/Recreation/Health Sciences or related field preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aquatics and competitive swimming. Experience should include aquatic operations, swim lesson program oversight and competitive swimming program oversight and coaching. Supervisory and payroll management experience required. • Experience serving on leadership team of a Y (or similar) membership organization serving over 2,500 membership households (preferred) • Proven results in increasing program quality and growth through exceptional planning and organizational skills. • Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain program participants. • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with program prospects and others to achieve goals. • Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results. • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making. • Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures. • Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology. Certifications/Trainings Required: • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR/AED Basic Life Support, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor and YMCA Lifeguard certification and/or certification by a nationally recognized provider required. YMCA Trainer and/or Faculty certifications preferred. United States Swimming Coaching certification and American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 or higher required. Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming preferred. Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
