POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for planning, managing, and directing the swim team at the Wellmark YMCA and for ensuring the safety of participants while operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. This position will need to coach, lead and motivate athletes in practice groups and at meets, promoting improvement and growth. In addition, this full-time position’s off-deck responsibilities will include administrative and operational tasks vital to team management, growth and culture. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Hire, supervise, train and direct assistant coaches.  In conjunction with the supervisor, prepare season training plans/themes/focus and develop team events.  Plan, write, schedule, and direct all team practices and meets.  Maintain proper records, team lists, and reports as needed.  Address member concerns by appointments and/or phone conversations.
