The Danvers YMCA Dolfins and the Assistant Swim Coach: The Danvers YMCA Dolfins, a privately owned, YMCA-affiliated youth swim team based from the Danvers Community YMCA, is seeking a part-time Assistant Swim Coach (ASC) to partner with the head coach in creating a program that develops swimmers who excel in and out of the water.  The Dolfins are an up-and-coming program that is growing in both size and stature in New England Swimming. The Dolfins are owned by Timm Heffron, who is also the founder and owner of Swimm with Timm, the premier swim lesson program operating on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Swimm with Timm has been teaching children to swim out of pools in Peabody, Methuen, and Salisbury since 2017. Many graduates of the Swimm with Timm lesson program become members of the Dolfins, meaning the health of the swim team program is intact.  The head coach of the Dolfins is Tom Phillips. We are opening a new 50,000 sq ft Athletic & Wellness Center (Fall 2026!!!) that includes a 6-lane pool. We aspire to become a destination for swim lessons (ie, we will create a swim school open to the public) AND a USA Swim team that draws swimmers from around the world. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial and competitive individual who desires to build their own program. As we are a boarding school for grades 4-9, onsite housing is available for this position and of course, for members of our future swim team. POSITION SUMMARY:   Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach, the Assistant Swim Team Coach will be responsible for implementing and supervising all team practices. The Swim Team Coach will attend coaches’ meetings, parent meetings, and scheduled swim meets. Part-Time position ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coaches participants in accordance with Wayside Athletic Club guidelines and conducts practice drills as created by the Head Coach/Team Director. Builds effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents. Encourages parental involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
