Under the guidance of the Director of Health & Wellness, the Aquatics Manager is responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of YWCA Tulsa aquatics program(s) to the membership, program participants, and community, and for all aspects of pool and facility operations, including supervision of staff and contractors at the YWCA Patti Johnson Wilson Center. Principal Responsibilities and Duties: Supervisory Responsibilities Provides a safe environment for members by assisting in the hiring, training, evaluating, and managing qualified staff to teach and assist with the aquatics and fitness programming. Creates a friendly, positive, customer service environment through employee training, oversight and performance reviews. Schedules staff, programs, and usage to ensure smooth operations and cost effectiveness for the organization. Addresses complaints and resolves problems. Ensures that all aquatics staff members and contractors have current and appropriate certifications needed by their job descriptions. Develop and implement program operating policies and needs. Work with supervisor in creating annual program goals and budgets. Manage a program costs to work within set budget.   Program Responsibilities   Implements aquatic programs for members of all ages and abilities. Provides input for scheduling programs and facility usage for members of all abilities, including special populations, to ensure smooth operations and cost effectiveness. Manage pool and swim lesson schedules. Organizes and leads water and fitness classes, swimming lessons, or lifeguard when appropriate. Work water fitness classes, swimming lessons, and swim team practices when appropriate.  Ensures a clean aquatic environment for members by overseeing the chemical and mechanical operations of the pool and spa. Maintain all proper Health Department certifications and standards. Provides a clean and safe environment of the pool facility. Promotes pool and facility rentals and coordinates their activities.   Customer Satisfaction Respond promptly to communications and follow through on commitments made to members, guests, visitors, and employees in a timely manner. Show courtesy and respect to all customers in both word and action. Listen openly to the ideas of others. Take prompt corrective action when areas for improvement are identified by supervisor. Respond calmly and tactfully to problem situations. Discuss concerns in a constructive manner with persons who need to be involved. Actively identify improvement opportunities and offer solutions. Facilitate staff and program meetings and follow through on areas identified for improvement. Collect data for aquatics and fitness programs and analyze results to make improvements if necessary. Required Qualifications:  Must possess and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard, Pool Operators, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Water Fitness and Group Fitness certifications and be able to respond to safety/emergency situations. Ability to instruct aquatics classes and communicate with people of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds effectively. Ability to manage, assign, and delegate responsibilities and to accomplish desired results through aquatic and fitness personnel. Effective interpersonal and customer service skills in working with staff at all organizational levels and members. Ability to make decisions in the best interest of the YWCA. An understanding of human physiology and anatomy in order to safely promote physical fitness for members. An understanding of pool mechanics, chemistry of water and the filtration system well enough to solve problems and make corrections. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products. Ability to develop team concepts of success and supervise the staff to accomplish the pre-set goals. Ability to organize available resources to provide programs and to schedule staff efficiently. Must be an advocate for the mission, values and goals of the YWCA Tulsa. Strong commitment to learning, growth, and continuous improvement. Work schedule includes, but not limited being on call during all hours of operation. Current Oklahoma Driver’s License and proof of current insurance.   Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Certification from an accredited aquatics organization such as AEA/AFAA.  At least two years' experience instructing or managing health and wellness and/or aquatics programs.  Maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR/First Aid, Pool Operators, and Water Fitness certifications.  Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.  Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certification preferred.
