POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the­­­­­­­­­­­ Executive Branch Director - APB, the Senior Director of Competitive Swimming is responsible for the leadership and direction of the YMCA’s Competitive Swimming program ensuring that all aspects of the program fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides vision, leadership, and management of the day-to-day operations of the successful, values-oriented YMCA of the Triangle competitive swimming program, including: senior competitive teams, age group competitive teams, junior competitor programs and masters programs. This includes regular visits to each of the 8 sites to ensure high standards of program quality and excellence as well as positive relationships with all staff, parents and athletes. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. In coordination with Learning and Leadership Development, ensures that all staff are developing as Cause-driven leaders by implementing individual development plans. Provides vision, leadership, and management to the Senior Swim Coaches and Age Group Head Coaches, while also providing support to all part time staff that includes coaching and leadership traits to ensure a high quality swim program. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Leads implementation of open, clear, consistent and effective communication with athletes, parents, branch staff, volunteers and coaches. Actively builds collaborative working relationships with branch aquatic directors, YMCA associate branch directors, and YMCA administration. Abides by the YMCA of the USA Swimming and Diving, ASCA, and USA Swimming Code of Ethics. Serves as an ambassador to the community by actively promoting the YMCA aquatics and wellness programs. Manages all aspects of YOTA’s financial and business functions ensuring budgeted goals are met while following all Association business guidelines. Drafts monthly financial reports for Executive Branch Director. Proactively manages team expenses and deck management of assistant coaches.  Works in conjunction with Association business team members to achieve stated goals. Leads YOTA Annual Campaign strategy to ensure that staff are engaged in branch or association campaigns by attending events, recruiting volunteers, articulating case for giving and successfully fundraising.  Regularly provides coaching support on deck at all levels to ensure consistency across sites as well as provides technical guidance and coaching to all staff. Develops and implements a program performance strategy while regularly analyzing and evaluating overall YOTA team strategy to ensure alignment. This includes coordinating athlete advancement process to ensure consistent implementation across all sites. Works with senior athletes, senior swim coaches, and parents to ensure that athlete development plans are created and timelines are understood and supported. This includes developing and supporting plans for athletes interested in swimming in college. Works with site coaches to provide opportunities for family involvement.  These opportunities include volunteering at meets, individual meetings, parent council, Swim for Life support, Annual Campaign support and special event participation. Lends leadership and guidance to the APB Branch by supporting the Executive Branch Director in planning and implementing Branch Meetings while also meeting bi weekly to help analyze data and determine direction of the branch. Develop and maintain relationships with all outside vendors. This includes understanding current and future pool space needs to ensure they are met, managing major YOTA events such as Capital Classic and end of year banquet,  sponsorship plans, and meet schedules. Models a commitment to the YMCA Mission, Cause, values and leadership competency model.  Strong ability to be an engaging presence leading staff and programs. Strong organizational and planning skills. Outstanding communication skills, the ability to determine and set priorities, manage his/her staff members work schedule; as well as, the capacity to handle multiple tasks appropriately in a fast paced work environment. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Multi-lingual desired but not required. Prefers ASCA level 4 swimming coach certifications. Proven skills in human relations, public speaking, program management, and volunteer development.  Maintain necessary certifications including CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety Training and Lifeguard training. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, with or without accommodations made of sufficient nature for the completion of assigned tasks. The Tigard-Tualatin Swim Club is conducting a search for a dynamic Head Age Group Coach. TTSC is a multi-site team that operates out of pools in both Tigard and Tualatin, OR (suburbs of Portland). We currently have approximately 140 swimmers ranging from age 5 to 18. Scope: The Head Age Group Coach of the Tigard-Tualatin Swim Club demonstrates leadership and responsibility for the administration of aspects relating to the age group programs of the club.  S/he will be involved in all aspects of the TTSC program, including (but not limited to) scheduling, training, performance, and safety. Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive, competitive program aimed at athletes age 14 and younger. Plan and conduct 2-3 hours per day of on-deck coaching, working with our Senior Prep group (ages 11-14). Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches (email, phone, face to face). Coordinate and develop group goals and curriculum. Maintain up-to-date performance reports on age group athletes. Coordinate online meet entries (Team Unify) for all age group meets. Attend all scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required. Assist Head Coach with planning seasonal practice and meet schedules. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (exercise science, education, or related field preferred). Minimum of 3 years’ successful experience as a Head Age Group or Head Coach with a USA Swimming team is preferred. ASCA Level 2 or above preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Positive and energetic presence with a passion for teaching technique. Proficiency with Team Unify web services, meet entries, and communication. Current CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety, and Safe Sport certifications and membership in good standing with USA Swimming. Enable educational and programming opportunities that improve athlete performance. Assist the Age Group, Senior, Open Water and Diversity & Inclusion Committees to collaboratively support: Implementation of Quad athlete performance plans and goals. Remain current on the use of technology to advance the sport.     SPORT DIRECTOR REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:   USA Swimming Non-Athlete Member in good standing (or successful registration prior to employment, including background check approval and completing Athlete Protection training) required, including substance screening.   Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree or equivalent career experience preferred.   Knowledge of USA Swimming and competitive swimming required. A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience coaching a USA Swimming/YMCA team required.  Proven development of athletes to achieve national level performance preferred. Demonstrates a personal commitment to advancing the sport of swimming.   A disciplined and goal-oriented self-starter with a high level of initiative expected. As our new Head Lifeguard, you will: Primary Duties and Responsibilities:   Assist with the scheduling  and supervision of  lifeguards as  it relates to staffing changes, emergency coverage, securing staffing for regular operating hours including events/parties and rentals. Work with the Director of Facilities to maintain the appropriate water chemistry in the pools ensuring a safe aquatic environment for our patrons Lifeguard 15-20 hours a week. Assist with the training and development of Aquatics Staff as directed. Practice good judgment while working with the Director of Health and Wellness in organizing and maintaining a safe and effective aquatic environment with respect to leading part time Aquatics Staff in their roles   Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Regular monitoring of the Aquatics Centers to assure the safety of all users, diagnose potential problems, setting of high standards for cleanliness and appearance and regulate appropriate use of facilities Work with Director of Health and Wellness to implement systems that assure inventory and supplies are available for proper functioning of facilities (i.e. pool chemistry, testing equipment, lane line, kickboards, bar bells etc.) Checking and logging the water chemistry and pool temperature in regular intervals throughout the shift/day as required by the center. Prevent injuries and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations (e.g. slip risks, dangerous activities, diving or horseplay) Helps maintain First Aid, safety equipment and supplies Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies in the aquatics area. Responsibilities We're seeking an  Aquatics Manager  to join our team. As our new Aquatics Manager you will: Recruit, hire and train all Aquatic staff Develop the promotional and marketing for the Aquatics department Manage pool areas and maintain staff coverage of pool areas Other duties as needed   Qualifications Required Qualifications:  Minimum of an AA degree required, Bachelor's preferred Preferred Qualifications: CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain certifications upon hire Lifeguard and Lifeguard Training certifications or ability to obtain certifications upon hire 2+ years of management experience in hospitality/fitness industry 2+ years of experience as a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor Bi-Lingual/fluent in Spanish  Physical Requirements: Candidates applying for this position should be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday  Frequent walking and demonstrating and assisting with exercise movements; bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and squatting are movements performed daily Ability to be in water for long periods during the day
