Basic Function and Scope of Responsibility: Provides swimming instruction/or water exercise instruction to children and/or adults under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Director, Assistant Aquatic Director or Aquatic Coordinator; following the philosophy and goals of the YMCA Aquatic programs Primary responsibility is the safety of participants during class sessions Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures adequate safety procedures are in place for the class being taught Communicates directions and/or corrections in a clear and concise manner Maintains class control and discipline at all times Instructor must be in proper attired (bathing suit) and on pool deck at least five minutes before start of class and have equipment ready and roster ready to take attendance Instructors shall not leave the area of their class unless students in the class have left or their safety has been turned over to a department lifeguard, confirming transfer with the guard on deck Develops lesson plans for each class of the session. It is the responsibility of each instructor to provide “practical” lesson plans for their substitutes (A substitute slip must be completed and signed for all classes missed) Evaluates stroke technique of participants Keeps skill sheets, student progress records and attendance records up to date after each class meeting Prepares student evaluations, with recommendations and comments for either staying in the current level, with an explanation why, or movement to the next level Teaches group and private lessons Maintains an uncluttered teaching area, returning all instructional equipment to the proper place Relates with enthusiasm, patience, courtesy, tact, and concern when dealing with class members and parents Attends and participates in all staff and instructors meetings Is considerate of other classes conducted in the same pool at the same time Enforces all facility and pool rules Other duties as required Education, Certification, Skills, and Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age Blood Borne Pathogens Facility Orientation/Aquatic Policy Emergency Procedures Preventing Child Abuse Possess an outgoing personality with the ability to relate well with participants of various age groups Must be attentive, multi-faceted, reliable, and a proven problem solver Must have positive mentality CPR and First Aid completion cards Must have aquatics teaching experience At least 2 water instruction certifications. (including YASA, YMCA lifeguard, YMCA lifeguard instructor, Swim lesson instructor, YMCA swim coach cert, USA swim coaching cert, Red Cross WSI, Red cross Lifeguarding instructor, Aqua aerobics cert, Action against arthritis Cert, and other certifications along these lines) If certification not listed and questionable can be reviewed by association aquatics director. Job Description: Aquakids Swim Team in Conway, AR has an immediate opening for a Head Coach.   We are seeking a passionate coach committed to motivating and developing athletes from novice to state and national levels. The team currently has around 110 registered swimmers ages 6-18. The team currently has swimmers qualified for Sectionals, NSCA Juniors, Junior Nationals and National team members. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 5+ years experience as a head coach or head age-group coach at a USA certified swim club. 2. Demonstrated history of successfully developing competitive, high-performance swimmers and successfully progressing them from an age group program to the national level. 3. Knowledgeable in and able to communicate current and proper stroke technique and development, dryland conditioning programs and taper strategies for all swimmers from age group through senior swimmers. 4. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. 5. Able to motivate swimmers of all abilities to achieve their full potential. 6. Able to manage and mentor staff of assistant coaches, ensuring implementation of team philosophy and goals. 7. Ability to communicate with parents and board members, and create and follow a sustainable budget. 8. ASCA Level 3 certification (or equivalent) required, Level 4 preferred. 9. Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current with all background checks and required certifications. 10. Familiarity with Team Unify, Hy-Tek, and other swimming social media and software programs. 11. Bachelor’s degree required. 12. Significant national club or collegiate swimming experience preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES OF HEAD COACH INCLUDE: Oversee and supervise the training program for all swim groups and clinics. Coordinate the practice and swim meet schedule. Effectively supervise, mentor and delegate responsibilities to the staff of assistant coaches. Serve as the primary deck coach for the Senior level swimmers. Identify and effectively correct technique deficiencies for swimmers in all groups. Attend monthly board meetings, provide a monthly coach’s report, conduct staff meetings, and execute staff reviews and swimmer evaluations. Set team meet schedules for the SCY and LCM seasons and assist in organizing the home meet. Encourage a fun, interactive, yet highly competitive atmosphere that self-motivates swimmers to attain and surpass their personal goals and expectations. Lead by example. Oversee meet information, results, publicity, travel, newsletter, and website content. Motivate swimmers and parents for full participation and enthusiasm. Recruit, retain, and grow the team. Full Time Head Site and Age-Group Swim Team Coach - West Boise YMCA Boise Y Swim Team Estimated Start Date – November 15, 2018   The  Boise Y Swim Team  is a year-round competitive swimming program for young men and women six years of age and older. The team consists of 300 athletes, staffs 9 coaches, and operates in three facilities across the Treasure Valley. The Boise Y competes within both YMCA and USA Swimming organizations, developing athletes who participate at all levels including practice-only swimmers, local and regional competitors, YMCA National, USA Swimming Junior and Senior National, and Olympic Trial qualifiers.   The Head Site and Age-Group Coach is responsible for coaching and managing the West Y Branch of the Boise Y Swim Team, as well as supporting the Boise Y Swim Team Head Coach with administrative duties, coaching of senior and national groups, and age group coaching duties as assigned by the Head Coach. This position will oversee safety, volunteer and staff development, team member development, seasonal planning, daily workouts, and goal setting. Starting Wage Range: $26,956 - $33,696 plus excellent health, insurance, and retirement benefits Key Qualifications: Three years competitive swim coaching experience; ASCA level 3-4 or equivalent; current USA Swim and YMCA Coaching certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days; ability to meet YMCA transportation guidelines; ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including regular overnight travel; ability to effectively communicate with participants and volunteers. Job Description The Hanford Swim Club is soliciting applications for a part-time Head Swim Coach. Our club is a small, year round competitive swim team that is currently seeking a high quality professional head coach for all ages and abilities. Our current Head Coach has been with our club for over 17 years, and is ready to enjoy a life of retirement. Currently there are 20-30 swimmers, depending on the time of year, ranging in age from 6-15. We are part of a consortium of 6 local area swim clubs, which together are known as the Tule Nation Tritons (TNT). We believe in focusing on a positive and team building environment, while motivating our swimmers to improve their skills through training and hard work. The coach will work with our parents to create a unified team to help each athlete attain their goals in swimming. We are looking for someone who is passionate about swimming and excited to serve as a mentor, educator and role model. On a regular basis our training occurs at the Old Hanford YMCA swimming pool in Hanford, California. The pool is a small four lane, 25 yard indoor pool. The non-profit club is governed by a board of directors consisting of team parents. The coach serves at the pleasure of the board.
