Position Summary:
Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club has an immediate opening for an experienced, enthusiastic, and organized Head Swim Coach to lead our year-round competitive swim program. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, coaching expertise, and a passion for developing swimmers of all levels—from beginners to national-level athletes.

Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club was established in 1964, it is a non-profit, board governed, head coach led swim team located in Norwalk, CA. The team practices at The Cerritos College swimming pool, located within the Physical Education complex on campus.
The mission of Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club is to teach young athletes the benefits of commitment, teamwork, and personal growth through the sport of competitive swimming.
As a team, our vision is to strive to provide a positive, indelible impact in our community through competitive swimming; facilitating through a professional, inspirational and knowledgeable coaching staff, involved and supportive parents, and hardworking, focused and respectful youth swimmers, in a safe and inclusive environment.

Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of coaching experience (head coaching preferred).
Current USA Swimming Coach Certification
CPR and First Aid certifications
Familiar with team management software (e.g., TeamUnify)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of swim meet preparation, athlete development, and technique.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead athlete development and oversee all swimming and dryland programs.
Ensure competitive opportunities, including organizing hosted meets. Attend local and travel meets
Maintain regular communication with athletes, families, board members, and community stakeholders.
Supervising current and training new coaches ensuring consistency in coaching philosophy and training methods (e.g. in coaching responsibilities, mentorship, expectations, etc...)
Developing season training plans for all practice groups and presenting to membership and board members.
Monitor and assess swimmer progress through regular evaluations, goal-setting, and feedback.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest coaching techniques, training methodologies, and USA swimming best practices.
Develop meet attendance schedules and enroll swimmers.
Conduct regular parent meetings to discuss goals, schedules, and expectations.
Act as a liaison between parents and the coaching staff, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
Provide educational resources to help parents understand swimmer development and the competitive swimming process.
Cultivate a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
Plan and coordinate team participation in local, regional, and national competitions.
Assist with budgeting, fundraising, and sponsorship efforts to support team growth.
Manage team registration, meet entries, and communication through team management software (e.g., TeamUnify).
Ensure compliance with all USA Swimming regulations, including certifications and safety protocols.

Direct Supervisor: Board of Directors.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience ($75,000-$90,000/year)
Plus incentivized membership growth bonuses

Work Schedule: Full-time position. The schedule will vary based on season and business needs.
