South Coast Aquatic Team (SCAT), a competitive year-round swim team in North Bend, Oregon, is seeking a part-time Head Coach. This role involves coaching swimmers aged 6 to 18, supervising assistant coaches, and collaborating with a parent-run board of directors to lead the team.
Established in 1995, SCAT is a non-profit, board-governed organization dedicated to promoting swimming in the community and fostering character development, sportsmanship, and team dynamics.
Job Duties:
Lead practices five days per week, creating training plans suited for each level of swimmer.
Submit meet files using Hy-Tek.
Coordinate with the Meet Director to organize two to three swim meets per year.
Travel to 8–12 out-of-town meets, depending on swimmer qualification for LSC Championships.
Attend the Oregon Swimming Inc. annual meeting and build relationships with other coaches and teams.
Participate in monthly board meetings.
Support team fundraising activities.
Requirements:
USA Swimming Coach Credentials
CPR and Lifeguard Certification
SafeSport certification
Hours & Compensation:
20–25 hours per week, including 15 hours of deck time.
8–12 weekends per year for out-of-town swim meets (mileage reimbursement, meal stipend, and housing provided).
$20–$25 per hour, with the potential for a performance-based bonus.

We have swimmers from North Bend, Coos Bay, Coquille and Reedsport area on the team. SCAT offers both parents and children an option of building lifelong skills the encourages physical fitness as well as a healthy lifestyle. Not only do swimmers learn proper swimming techniques, but the coaches and parents involved with SCAT are committed to the encouragement and development of positive self-esteem, dedication, self-motivation, goal setting, accountability, and team work. Our swimmers and their families enjoy hosting and attending swim meets throughout the year.
