Summary

Protea Swim Company is growing and seeking a dedicated Swim Instructor to help shape our expanding program. You will teach high quality, in water lessons for children while becoming part of a family run company built on trust, care, and community. This is an opportunity for the right person to grow with a developing program and play a hands-on role in its future. We believe swimming builds confidence, discipline, and connection, and we’re looking for someone who shares that purpose. As Protea grows, this role will evolve with it, offering the chance to take on more responsibility and help lead the next stage of our journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach child focused, in water lessons for children as young as 18 months, plus semi private and small group formats including adults.
• Serve as an ambassador for Protea Swim Company, representing professionalism, care, safety, and community.
• Create a safe, positive, and professional lesson environment.
• Follow Protea teaching progressions and promote water safety and confidence.
• Keep schedules, attendance, waivers, and progress notes current.
• Report incidents promptly to the Aquatics Director.
• Work weekends, must be available Saturdays and Sundays.
• Travel between pools in Mill Valley, Tiburon, and Corte Madera.

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross or equivalent certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR AED for Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.
• Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
• At least one year of swim instruction or lifeguarding experience.
• Strong communication skills with young children and families.

Compensation

• Estimated hourly pay: $36 to $48 per hour, depending on experience.
• Training and certification support available for qualified candidates.

Schedule

• 15 to 20 hours per week.
• Most lessons occur between 2pm to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 3pm on weekends.
• Weekend availability is required.
• Schedules are planned in advance and may shift with seasonal demand.
