About the Team
The summer swim program offers an exciting opportunity to coach swimming at a longstanding summer swim club that values tradition, teamwork, and a love of the sport. Our summer swim team includes athletes ages 5-18. The team competes in five dual Meets, Tri-County Championships (hosted by Haddon Glen this year) as well as approximately 3 Wednesday night ‘B’ meets each season.
Position Overview
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Head Coach to guide our competitive summer swim program. Previous head coaching experience is a plus, but candidates with strong assistant coaching backgrounds, leadership ability, and a passion for swimmer development will be strongly considered.
The Head Coach will lead daily practices (adjusting from afternoon sessions during the school year to morning practices once school concludes), attend and coach at all meets, and help create a supportive, encouraging environment for swimmers of every age and ability.

Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and swimmer development in and out of the water.
Balance the fun, energetic spirit of a summer swim team with a commitment to hard work, learning, and continuous improvement.
Motivate swimmers by helping them set achievable goals, celebrating progress, and encouraging consistent effort.
Create and lead age-appropriate practice plans that support swimmer development and skill progression.
Provide regular stroke instruction, race strategy, and individual feedback.
Create A & B meet lineups and submit results to TriCounty.
Coach all dual meets (A & B) and league championships.
Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating team culture.
Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, assistant coaches, and club leadership.
Assemble, supervise, and mentor assistant coaching staff.
Assist with organizing team events, spirit activities, and end-of-season celebrations.

Knowledge of stroke mechanics, dryland exercises, and meet preparation
CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Lifeguard certification preferred
Survey competitors and develop optimal line-ups for all A and B meets, submit meet entries and results in accordance with Tri-County requirements
Ensure that meet entries are accurate, including correct swimmer placement and lane assignments
Model appropriate professional behavior, including punctuality and preparedness
Establish individual swimmer goals and reinforce progress throughout the season
Provide swimmers with direct and constructive feedback after each race
Collaborate with the coaching staff to determine awards for the end-of-season banquet
Schedule (Day after Memorial Day – First full weekend in August)
Weekday Afternoons (typically 3:30-6:30pm) from May 26- until school is out (exact date dependent on Haddon Heights Schools schedule, but usually around June 18th)
Weekday Mornings (typically 8am-12pm) once school is out until the last practice on July 31st
‘A’ Meets occur on Saturday mornings, with several (3-4) Wednesday night ‘B’ meets during the regular season
Compensation
Salary will be discussed during the interview process and is commensurate with experience.

Haddon Glen is a non-profit, private swim club that is owned by the membership. The club has much to offer, including a 25 meter pool with 6 lanes, a diving well with two one-meter boards and a large kiddie pool. We also offer a learn-to-swim program, a Tri-County swim team, a South Jersey dive team, special events and summer activities.
