SAC Head Coach

Job Description

Position Summary

The Sevier Aquatic Club is seeking an energetic and experienced Head Coach to lead and grow our competitive swim program. The Head Coach will oversee athlete development, manage assistant coaches, coordinate competitions, and partner with the SAC Board to strengthen the club’s long-term success.

This is an opportunity for a motivated coach to shape the vision of a developing program, build a strong team culture, and help swimmers reach their full potential in and out of the water. SAC is a year-round team of about 70 athletes, and a learn-to-swim program of 20 swimmers. A Head Coach at SAC will be responsible for the year-round USA Swim team, the local Summer League team, and will have the option to also be the Sevier County High School swim team’s Head Coach. Both the indoor pool and outdoor pools are 6 lanes and 25m.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership for SAC’s competitive swim program.

  • Collaborate with the SAC Board on team operations, planning, and program development.

  • Maintain a positive team culture built on sportsmanship, accountability, and athlete growth.

  • Attend monthly board meetings and provide updates on program progress.

Athlete Development

  • Design and implement structured seasonal training plans.

  • Evaluate swimmers and assign appropriate training groups.

  • Track athlete attendance, performance, and development.

  • Foster goal-setting and competitive readiness for swimmers of all levels.

  • Communicate with parents in a timely manner and publish team-wide email announcements regularly.

Coaching Staff Management

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches.

  • Ensure all coaching staff follow SAC policies and USA Swimming standards.

  • Coordinate coaching coverage for practices and meets.

Practice & Competition Management

  • Develop practice schedules and training plans.

  • Manage meet entries and monthly competition schedules.

  • Communicate meet details and results to athletes and families.

  • Practices are after school 6 days a week

  • Summer practices are primarily in the mornings 5 times a week, with other activities (meets and make-up practices) in the evenings.

Qualifications

Required

  • USA Swimming certified coach (or ability to obtain)

  • Competitive swimming and coaching experience

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Technical skills to manage team emails and websites

Preferred

  • Ability to lead and mentor assistant coaches

  • ASCA Certifications

  • Experience managing or building a swim program

  • Experience working with Senior, Age Group, and Learn-to-Swim athletes

  • Experience with TeamUnify, Swimtopia

  • General spreadsheets abilities
