Job Overview
Northside Swim Academy is dedicated for trying to provide individualized and high quality aquatic services to as many communities as possible. We also pride ourselves for trying to offer the widest range of aquatic services we offer. We are gearing up to expand our adaptive swim lessons program. Adaptive swim lessons are for kids with special needs of any type that may not respond to your average swim instructions because of their mental uniqueness. We want to be able to provide specialized lessons for these kids and help them accomplish any goals they may have. We are hoping to start running this programing in June starting at our Sandy Springs LA Fitness (6690 Roswell Rd Atlanta GA 30328).
Responsibilities
- Conduct individualized swim lessons for kids that are special needs and to work with them to meet their individual goals while following the general theme of our curriculum
- Creating a bond with these kids and find strategies that offer the highest chance of improvement and confidence within the swimmer
- Communicate with parents about progress of the swimmer
- Prevent any potentially dangerous behaviors that would put the swimmer at risk of being harmed
- Ensuring safety of the swimmer at all times
- Updating progress trackers and submitting end of lesson reports
- Attend quarterly in-services to make sure you are continuing your education within adaptive swim lessons
Personal Quality Requirements:
- Needs to be able to show some form of proof of swimming ability (flexible)
- Needs to be able to communicate well with management and clientele
- Needs to be able to demonstrate a positive, caring, patient and adaptable coaching style
- Positive attitude and hard work ethic
- Being a good role model
Requirements:
- Must actively have or be willing to get or renew upon hire Angelfish Certification (adaptive swim lessons certification) before work in this role begins (required)
- First Aid/CPR/AED/Lifeguard certified within 180 days of hire (required)
- Reliable transportation (required)
- Willingness to go under a background check before work begins (required)
- Previous swimming background and knowledge of technique of all 4 strokes (highly preferred)
- Experience working with children with special needs and/or disabilities (highly preferred)
- Swim Instructing Experience (highly preferred)
- Previous competitive swimming background and knowledge of USA swimming rules (preferred)
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Experience working in the OT or PT field (preferred)
- Swim Coaching Experience (preferred)
- Currently Lifeguard Certified (preferred)
