Sooner Swim Club is a year-round, USA Swimming–sanctioned competitive swim program serving athletes of all ages and abilities. SSC emphasizes long-term athlete development, integrity, teamwork, and a positive, inclusive environment that supports both academic and athletic excellence. Our mission is to develop swimmers of character and competence through a culture of respect, accountability, and continuous improvement. Our team practices at the Young Family Aquatic Center, a state-of-the-art indoor natatorium, featuring a 8-lane, 25-yard competition pool and 4 lane recreational pool.
The Head Age Group Coach oversees age group training by planning, organizing and conducting training for age group levels. The Head Age Group Coach collaborates and works closely with the Head Coach and the Board of Directors to promote the program direction and goals. He/She will work directly with swimmers to guide skill development, and help to instill growth and accountability. This individual fosters collaboration among assistant coaches, athletes, parents, and the Board of Directors to sustain a high-performing, safe, and athlete-centered program aligned with USA Swimming’s SafeSport and Club Excellence standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates humility, professionalism, and a proven record of building strong athlete pipelines through evidence-based coaching methods, progressive skill development, and collegiate-level competitive experience.
Program Leadership
Work closely with the Head Coach to implement a cohesive, progressive training plan for age group swimmers.
Maintain a positive, energetic, professional, and team-centered deck presence at all practices and competitions.
Establish and communicate clear performance goals aligned with the club’s strategic plan.
Coordinate with the Head Coach, coaching staff, and Board of Directors on annual meet schedules, budgets, and staff assignments.
Athlete Development
Demonstrate technical expertise in stroke mechanics, training cycles, and athlete progression.
Inspire swimmers to achieve their potential through positive motivation and goal setting.
Track and analyze performance data to inform individualized training plans.
Organizational Management
Collaborate with the Head Coach and Board of Directors on budget, staffing, and program development.
Perform administrative duties assigned by the Head Coach and/or Board of Directors.
Uphold compliance with USA Swimming, Oklahoma Swimming (OKS), and SSC policies.
Actively engage in professional development and maintain all certifications in good standing.
Represent SSC professionally at meets, LSC functions, and community events.
Familiarity with Commit, Hy-Tek Meet Manager, Colorado Timing Systems and digital performance analytics is preferred but not required.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive coaching experience, preferably with experience at a USA Swimming–sanctioned club.
Strong knowledge of age group swimmer development and technical skill instruction.
Current USA Swimming Coach Certification, including CPR/AED, Safety Training, and SafeSport.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and organized approach to leadership.

Our club is a USA Swimming year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. All of our coaches, as members of the American Swim Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time. The Sooner Swim Club, a non profit club, is run by its elected Board of Directors which meets each month. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraisers.
