B-Town Brazadas Swim Club (brazadas.org) is a brand-new, USA Swimming-affiliated club based in Bakersfield, California. Less than one year old, we are growing rapidly and building a long-term, community-focused program from the ground up.

Our team trains in a brand-new, state-of-the-art 50-meter aquatic center and is committed to developing swimmers of all ages and abilities while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.

Overview:

The Head Age Group Coach is a key leadership position within the B-Town Brazadas Swim Club. Reporting directly to the Director, this role oversees age-group swimmer development, leads competitive training groups, and serves as the leader of the club’s swim school program.

This position is ideal for an experienced, organized, and forward-thinking coach who is passionate about developing swimmers, building strong systems, and contributing to the long-term growth of a new and rapidly growing club.

Relocation assistance is available for out-of-area candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead coach for two competitive age-group training groups
  • Design and implement seasonal training plans aligned with club philosophy
  • Develop athletes toward B-Team and Senior program readiness
  • Provide high-level technical instruction across all four strokes, starts, turns, and race strategy
  • Lead athlete development and progression within the age-group program
  • Lead and oversee the club’s swim school program
  • Manage swim school curriculum, instructor development, scheduling coordination, and program quality
  • Drive swim school growth, retention, and customer experience
  • Ensure the swim school serves as a strong feeder into the competitive team
  • Assist with team tryouts and swimmer assessments for division placement
  • Help coach a limited number of Masters workouts as assigned
  • Coordinate meet entries, team travel logistics, and competition communication
  • Support family outreach, education, and new member orientation
  • Contribute to newsletter and social media communication
  • Participate in staff meetings and strategic planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Details:

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Salary range: $70,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
  • Performance incentive: up to $5,000 annually based on measurable performance and program growth goals
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified out-of-area candidates
  • Regular afternoon, evening, and weekend availability required
  • Attendance at swim meets, team events, staff meetings, and strategic planning sessions required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience
  • Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing, or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Experience in swim instruction, swim school leadership, or aquatic program coordination
  • Strong technical knowledge of stroke mechanics, training principles, and athlete development
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and structured with strong attention to detail
  • Forward-thinking planner who anticipates needs and solves problems proactively
  • Community-minded and relationship-driven
  • Business awareness and understanding of program growth
  • CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard or Coaches Safety Training certifications, or willingness to obtain
  • Proficiency in administrative and communication tools
  • College degree preferred but not required
