Glenbrook Aquatics Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach

Job Description

Glenbrook High School District 225 is seeking a Glenbrook Aquatics Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach for Glenbrook Aquatics' Respect group.

The Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach for Glenbrook Aquatics is the primary architect of the program’s identity and cultural standard, providing a strategic vision for the club and directing the path toward technical and performance excellence.  The Head Coach will work in direct synergy with the coaching staff and Head Age Group Coaches to ensure a cohesive "one-club" philosophy that breathes life into the mission, vision, and values of the Glenbrook Aquatics program. 

The Head Coach is responsible for all coaching aspects related to the planning, preparation, and implementation of the comprehensive swim program as a pillar of the larger Glenbrook Aquatics program. This includes overseeing the day-to-day coaching strategy for each age group, providing direction and mentoring to the coaching staff, and developing and maintaining the overall coaching philosophy for the Glenbrook Aquatics organization.  

This position also serves as the Head Age Group Coach for Respect.

Education and/or Experience and Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. American Swim Coaches Association Level 3 or higher preferred.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of Head swim coaching experience, preferred.
  4. 10+ years of swim coaching experience, preferred.
  5. A demonstrated track record of developing high-performance athletes.
  6. Previous competitive swimming experience.
  7. The ability to obtain and maintain all required USA Swimming certifications, including passing an annual background check.
  8. The ability to obtain and maintain Lifeguarding/First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.
  9. Experience with TeamUnify and Hy-Tek Meet Manager required.
  10. Experience in Timing Systems preferred. 
  11. Colorado Timing Systems preferred.

Essential Functions

Coach Management

  1. Serve as the supervisor for Glenbrook Aquatics part-time coaches.
  2. Determine and communicate coaching philosophy.
  3. Set and maintain the coaching staff's team culture.
  4. Attend periodic practices to observe coaches.
  5. Conduct performance evaluations for Glenbrook Aquatics part-time coaches in conjunction with the Head Age Group Coach.
  6. Mentor coaches on additional training and education requirements.
  7. Run biannual Glenbrook Aquatics coach meetings and in-house coaching education.
  8. Respond to electronic communications.
  9. Complete meet entries.
  10. Make staffing recommendations for the part-time Glenbrook Aquatics to the Glenbrook Aquatics Program Liaisons and the Assistant Principals of Athletics.

Team Swim Strategy 

  1. Develop a strategy and season plans for the Glenbrook Aquatics, including age-group-specific plans in conjunction with the Head Age Group Coach.
  2. Determine, communicate, and publish overall swimmer advancement standards and benchmarks to the Glenbrook Aquatics community. 
  3. Monitor swimmers' progress throughout the program. 
  4. Monitor membership, retention, and assess changes as needed. 
  5. Plan meet assignments and monitor swimmer performance. 
  6. Define and implement pool and deck safety standards and best practices. 
  7. Communicate and address questions or concerns with parents and swimmers.

 

Senior Team Management 

  1. Serve as lead coach for the senior swimmers (13 & Over). 
  2. Develop and implement senior training programs.  
  3. Determine and communicate season plans and 5-year plans. 

 

GSC Team Administration  

  1. Partner with the Glenbrook Aquatics Liaisons and Assistant Principals of Athletics on budget, scheduling needs, and assignments for the Glenbrook Aquatics. 
  2. Meet with the Glenbrook Aquatics Liaisons biweekly to ensure active coordination.
  3. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Glenbrook Aquatics Liaisons and Assistant Principals of Athletics.
