The Opportunity
MAC is seeking a reliable, athlete-centered coach to lead Senior 2, a committed training group for swimmers ready for greater consistency, accountability, and performance development.
About the S2 Group
S2 serves Senior athletes who have demonstrated stronger training maturity, competitive readiness, and consistency. The group develops swimmers for higher-level Senior competition and possible progression to S3 when appropriate.
• Typical age range: 13-15
• Typical group size: up to 20 swimmers
• Attendance expectation for swimmers: approximately 80%
• General competitive indicator: at least one SCY Senior Championship qualifying time, unless otherwise determined by the coaching staff
What You Will Lead
• A consistent, purposeful training environment built around performance habits, accountability, and athlete development.
• Season planning and daily water and dryland practices, in alignment with the Head Coach and MAC's training progression.
• Race preparation, technical execution under fatigue, event development, goal setting, and meet readiness.
• Thoughtful swimmer progression, including readiness assessments for S3 and recognition that S2 may remain the best long-term fit for some athletes.
• Clear group communication and a positive, professional partnership with swimmers, families, and the MAC coaching staff.
Core Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary coach at assigned S2 practices and meets.
• Create and implement the S2 season plan with direction from the Head Coach.
• Plan, document, and execute water and dryland practices.
• Track attendance in the OnDeck app and complete S2 meet entries.
• Send a weekly group email and provide monthly updates to the Head Coach.
• Attend coach meetings and assist with MAC clinics, tryouts, and reasonable team needs.
• Maintain athlete safety, professional boundaries, and compliance with USA Swimming, Safe Sport, MAAPP, and MAC policies.
The Coach We Are Looking For
• Competitive swimming coaching experience and a strong understanding of stroke technique, training progression, and race preparation.
• Ability to plan a season, write effective practices, evaluate athlete readiness, and coach technical execution under fatigue.
• Dependable attendance, strong organization, timely follow-through, and clear written and verbal communication.
• A calm, respectful leadership style that balances high expectations with athlete well-being.
• Sound judgment with swimmers and families, including the ability to solve routine issues and elevate significant concerns appropriately.
• Commitment to collaboration, continued professional development, and MAC's mission: inspiring young athletes to succeed in life through the pursuit of excellence in swimming.
Required Credentials and Screening
The selected candidate must maintain, or be able to obtain before coaching, all credentials and screenings required for a USA Swimming coach member, including applicable USA Swimming registration, background screening, Athlete Protection Training/Safe Sport education, CPR, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches. Employment is subject to MAC's required pre-employment screening and reference checks.
Compensation and Support
• $20,000 annual salary.
• $40 per coached meet session.
• Mileage reimbursement for eligible non-hosted meet travel at MAC's approved rate.
• Reimbursement of eligible required credential and registration costs according to club policy.
• Eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.
• 12 sick/personal days per annual cycle and scheduled seasonal breaks coordinated with the team calendar.
Schedule and Commitment
The coach must be available for the approved 2026-2027 S2 practice schedule, assigned meets, coach meetings, and related group responsibilities. The summer schedule may differ from the school-year schedule. Coaches are expected to arrive 10-15 minutes before practices and remain briefly afterward as needed; meet arrival is at least 15 minutes before the swimmers' required arrival time.
