We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Assistant Swim Coach to support our Head Coach in leading a recreation swim team serving athletes ages 6–18. Our program emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and creating a fun, positive experience that fosters a lifelong love of swimming.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and teenagers and is passionate about helping swimmers of all abilities improve their technique, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport.
Assist the Head Coach in conducting age-appropriate practices for athletes ages 6–18.
Teach and reinforce proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and finishes.
Provide individual instruction and encouragement to swimmers of varying skill levels.
Help create a positive, safe, and supportive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Assist with meet preparation, warm-ups, and race support during competitions.
Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff.
Ensure swimmer safety and maintain appropriate supervision at all times.
Support team events and activities as needed.
Maintain compliance with USA Swimming Safe Sport policies and applicable league requirements.
Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Head Coach or team leadership.
Current USA Swimming Coach Certification in good standing.
Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certifications.
Previous coaching, teaching, or mentoring experience with youth ages 6–18.
Experience as a competitive swimmer or with recreation, age-group, or club swim programs.
Knowledge of stroke mechanics and competitive swimming fundamentals.
Passion for working with children and teenagers and helping them develop confidence and skills in the water.
Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and fellow staff members.
Commitment to athlete safety, sportsmanship, and creating a fun and inclusive team environment.
Willingness to obtain and maintain USA Swimming Coach Certification and all required safety certifications.
Certification Assistance: Current USA Swimming Coach Certification is preferred but not required. For the right candidate, the team will cover the cost of obtaining required USA Swimming and safety certifications.

Understands that building confidence and fostering a love for the sport are just as important as competition.
Seasonal position lasting approximately six months.
Weekday evening practices.
Occasional weekend swim meets and team events.
Flexible hours based on the team schedule and competition calendar.
Coaches hired without USA Swimming certification will be eligible for the higher pay rate upon successful completion of required USA Swimming certifications.
The team will cover the cost of obtaining required USA Swimming and safety certifications for qualified candidates.
