Bronze Lead Coach

The Bronze Lead Coach is responsible for the day-to-day coaching of our Bronze practice group (12 & Under, 1-hour practices, approx 40 swimmers), including writing workouts that follow the season plan set by our Executive Director & Lead Coach and providing on-deck instruction.

Responsibilities

• Write workouts for the Bronze group, following the season plan
• Provide on-deck coaching for practices you attend
• Provide on-deck direction to Assistant Coaches working with the Bronze group
• Take attendance & flag swimmers with long absences
• Provide meet coverage for the 12 & under sessions (typically 1-2 meets per month)
• Help swimmers and families feel welcome, and help young swimmers build a lifelong love of the sport
• Communicate with swimmers and parents within USA Swimming and SafeSport guidelines
• Attend coaches’ meetings and participate in team events
• Provide input on the practice and meet schedule

Qualifications

• Current USA Swimming coaching certifications, or willingness to complete them before starting on deck
• Ability to pass a background check
• Coaching experience with age group swimmers preferred
• Reliable, communicative, and comfortable working with children and their families

Schedule
Bronze practices are held at St. Michael’s pool in Spotsylvania: Monday-Thursday evenings (5:00-6:00pm), Friday mornings (5:30-6:30am), and Sundays (2:30-3:30pm), plus a few Saturday practices. Your specific schedule will be set with the Executive Director & Lead Coach.

Compensation
$25.00/hour for both on-deck coaching and workout-writing time. This is a part-time, hourly position.
