Position Summary:
Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club has an immediate opening for an experienced, enthusiastic, and organized Age Group Coach to lead our year-round competitive swim program. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, coaching expertise, and a passion for developing swimmers of all levels—from beginners to national-level athletes.

Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club was established in 1964, it is a non-profit, board governed, head coach led swim team located in Norwalk, CA. The team practices at The Cerritos College swimming pool, located within the Physical Education complex on campus.
The mission of Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club is to teach young athletes the benefits of commitment, teamwork, and personal growth through the sport of competitive swimming.

Qualifications:
Competitive swimming background as a swimmer or coach.
Ideal candidates will have experience as a competitive swim coach (but not required).
Knowledge of stroke techniques, training methodologies, and competition strategies.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High School graduate or higher-level educational background.
Desire to develop, learn and grow as a professional swim coach.
Ability to pass USA Swimming background check and become certified in CPR, AED / First Aid & USA Swim Coaches Certifications.
Essential Job Functions:
This is a part-time coaching opportunity. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Lakewood Aquatics Head Age Group Coach, with the primary focus of leading the team’s top 10 & Under group, while assisting with Lakewood Aquatics additional 14 & Under groups. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Create daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal practice plans/goals.
Attend local swim meets (about 1-2 per month).
Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents and others involved with the team.
Monitor and evaluate swimmers’ progress, adjusting practices / training plans as needed.
Keep regular attendance of group(s).
Assist with the running of Lakewood Aquatics hosted Swim Meets when needed.
*These job functions are not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned.
Hours & Pay:
Competitive part-time hourly wage, that can transition into part-time salary after a probationary period.
Coach primarily between 4:00pm – 7:00pm Monday – Friday and for up to 3 hours on Saturday mornings.

Direct Supervisor: Head Coach
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience ($30 - 35 an hour)
Work Schedule: Part-time position. The schedule will vary based on season and business needs.
A typical week will include approximately 10-15 hours of on-deck coaching and 2-5 hours of administrative work
