Swimming and Diving Director - North Penn Aquatic Club

Job Description

Position Overview:

NPAC is seeking an experienced and motivated Swimming and Diving Director to lead the program and continue building a strong foundation for success. This individual will oversee all aspects of the swim and dive programs, develop athletes at every level, guide the coaching staff, and promote a positive and professional team culture that reflects NPAC’s mission and values.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Leadership and Development

  • Design, implement, and communicate an annual training plan for all competitive groups from developmental through elite.
  • Create progressive and engaging practices that teach proper stroke mechanics, endurance, and racing strategies.
  • Support the head and assistant coaches in delivering high-quality practices that align with the overall season plan.
  • Oversee both water and dryland training that aligns with age and ability levels.
  • Ensure compliance with USA Swimming, Safe Sport, and NPAC policies.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on improvement, respect, and fun.

Coaching and Staff Management

  • Hire, mentor, and evaluate coaches to ensure consistent instruction and athlete development.
  • Lead staff meetings and provide coaching feedback and growth opportunities.
  • Support the head and assistant coaches in achieving professional and team goals.
  • Provide direct coaching at practices and meets.

Athlete and Parent Engagement

  • Provide direct instruction, feedback, and motivation to swimmers during practices and meets.
  • Communicate clearly with swimmers and parents about goals, progress, meet details, and results.
  • Hold goal-setting meetings and provide regular feedback to swimmers.
  • Build positive relationships with families while maintaining professionalism and consistency with team policies.

Operations and Administration

  • Work with the Board of Directors to coordinate meet entries, team registration, and schedules.
  • Oversee swimmer participation to ensure balanced event selection and overall development.
  • Attend and support all NPAC-hosted meets and events.
  • Maintain a safe and organized pool environment and work with facility management to address any issues.
  • Represent NPAC professionally within the swimming and diving community.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum of four years of coaching experience with a USA Swimming or similar competitive program, including at least two years as a head or lead coach.
  • Demonstrated success developing athletes at all levels, from entry to advanced.
  • Current USA Swimming Coach Membership in good standing.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes and staff in a positive team environment.
  • Experience with Team Unify, Meet Manager, and Team Manager software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, kinesiology, sports management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience coaching athletes to Sectional or Junior National levels preferred.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks.

Compensation and Schedule

This is a year-round leadership role within a well-established community program. The Director is responsible for driving the overall success of the program and helping NPAC continue to grow and thrive. The schedule follows the team’s training and meet calendar.
