Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Head Coach and Board Members, the Assistant Coach is responsible for producing high quality training and implementing a swim program to the swimmers in our community. The Assistant Coach will provide training to a fixed age group but may also be required to coach other groups as well.
Hourly rate: $25 - 30 / Hour pending experience
Duties / Responsibilities:
Long and short-term planning/scheduling for training and competition for all levels, specifically for entry and novice level swimmers
Assesses swimmer’s skills, monitors athletes during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of athletes
Efficiently managing pool space with swimmers in each lane
Ability to demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and ability to function in a multi-task environment
Educate swimmers and parents with proper swimmers' etiquette
Attend meets assigned by HC, assist in organized fundraisers, proper work schedule, but can be offered flexibility
Foster a welcoming environment for new athletes with the goal of retaining swimmers
Qualifications/Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate effectively with athletes of all ages/abilities, families, staff and administrators
Complete all USA Swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection, Lifeguard, First Aid, Concussion, etc.). DCD will reimburse for the cost of any certifications or memberships during and before starting on the job.
Excellent observational skills
Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques
Knowledge and experience with on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, Water Safety Instructor and first aid
Education and Experience
At least High School Diploma or GED
Experience in competitive swimming (USA Swimming, high school swimming and/or collegiate background preferred)
Experience developing athletes and volunteers
Daly City Dolphins Aquatics Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. We offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.

We are a year-round club swimming team at Giammona Pool in Daly City. Our members range from entry-level swimmers to senior-level high school swimmers -- all of whom train hard, work as a team, and most importantly have fun whilst being immersed in the competitive world of swimming!
