About the Role:
The Assistant Swim Coach/Camp Swim Instructor plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging aquatic environment for swimmers of varying ages and skill levels. This position is responsible for assisting the head coach in developing and implementing swim training programs that enhance technique, endurance, and overall performance. The role also involves instructing campers in swim lessons, ensuring they build confidence and water safety skills in a fun and educational setting. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a positive team culture that encourages personal growth, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for swimming. Ultimately, this position aims to support swimmers in achieving their individual goals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all aquatic activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding from a recognized organization.
Demonstrated swimming proficiency and knowledge of competitive swim techniques.
Experience working with children or youth in a teaching or coaching capacity.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a swim instructor or assistant coach at a camp, school, or swim club.
Certification from a recognized swim coaching organization (e.g., ASCA Level 1, Red Cross WSI Certification, etc).
Knowledge of aquatic safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience working with diverse populations and adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
Responsibilities:
Assist the head swim coach in planning and conducting swim practices, including warm-ups, drills, and conditioning exercises.
Provide individualized instruction and feedback to swimmers to improve stroke technique, speed, and endurance.
Teach swim lessons to campers of various ages and skill levels, focusing on water safety, basic swimming skills, and stroke development.
Monitor swimmer safety at all times, enforcing pool rules and responding promptly to any emergencies or incidents.
Support the organization and execution of swim meets, including timing, officiating, and encouraging team participation.
Maintain clear communication with swimmers, parents, and camp staff regarding progress, schedules, and any concerns.
Assist with the setup and cleanup of swim areas and equipment to ensure a safe and organized environment.

Evening Swim Team Practices: Monday–Thursday, June 15–June 25, 2026
Pre-season swim meetings for orientation and preparation, if required
Swim Meets (dates TBD, possibly including Counties Meet during the week of August 4–8, 2026)
Morning and Afternoon Swim Team Practices: Monday–Thursday, June 29–August 6, 2026, 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Camp Swim lessons Monday - Friday June 29 - July 31, 2026 - 9:30 - 12:00 pm and Tot Swim Lessons Friday 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Swim team end of season party - Friday, July 31st 5pm-9pm
Employees are expected to communicate all known scheduling conflicts, time-off requests, and unavailable dates prior to the start of the summer season. This includes vacations, camps, orientations, or other commitments.
Once the season schedule is finalized, time off requests must be submitted as early as possible and are subject to approval based on operational needs. Approval is not guaranteed during peak program periods.
Unapproved absences or repeated last-minute schedule changes may result in disciplinary action and/or removal from the position.
Meet Attendance Requirement
Attendance at all assigned swim meets is a required component of this position. Coaches are expected to be present for the full duration of meets unless otherwise approved in advance by swim team management or pool administration.
