Part-Time Assistant Coach

With a roster of over 200 athletes, and utilization of 3 local pools, BTA is seeking motivated and experienced coaches to assist groups within our growing team, including our Learn to Swim program. They will work with the Head Coach, Head Age Group Coach, and other Lead Coaches to develop the team through technique-based practices, advanced training, dry land assistance, and other duties as required. BTA aims to provide every swimmer with the opportunity to improve their skills to the best of their ability and achieve success in a safe environment.

Job Expectations

• Assist the lead coach with practices on weekday afternoons/evenings and some Saturday mornings (~10-15 hours per week)
• Maintain a safety-first environment throughout training and dry land.
• Uphold the program requirements, in close coordination with the coaching staff.
• Contribute to athlete progression as determined by group specific training standards and individual/group goals.
• Coach with energy, passion, and engagement.
• Attend team events, staff meetings, block parties, and/or fundraising activities.  
• Participate in continuing education, learning and applying new strategies to become a better coach.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships and open communication with coaches, swimmers and parents.
• Any other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned, from the Head Coach.

Qualifications & Preferences

• Minimum of 2 years coaching experience required. Prior competitive swimming experience preferred.
• Strong stroke technique background.
• Proficiency in running multi-level workouts for athletes with varying skill/experience levels.
• Patience and ability to have fun while working with and teaching both younger and older swimmers.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Maintain all coach and safety certifications. Remain in “good standing” with Gulf Swimming and USA Swimming.
