Assistant Swim Team Coach

Job Description

The Aquatic Club of Elkhorn swim team (ACE) is a non-profit, board-run, year-round competitive swim team located in Omaha, NE with over 150 members. 

ACE is searching for an energetic part-time coach to join us in developing our athletes and growing our program while teaching and modeling our core values of being swimmer centric, supporting life-long learning, having passionate coaches, following a philosophy of growth, and building community.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must already have or be willing to obtain a USA Swimming Coach certification, including First Aid/CPR certification. Additional certification requirements through USA Swimming may be necessary.
  • Applicants must have previous competitive swimming experience and strong knowledge of stroke-mechanics and technique fundamentals.
  • Have background working with young, developmental swimmers between the age of 6-15, either on a swim team or in group swim lessons.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for competitive swimming and a “desire to excel” professionally.
  • Strong work ethic, time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Applicants must have a positive attitude, be a team player, and possess good communication skills.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

On Job Time Requirements & Performance Responsibilities:

  • This position requires 5 - 10 hours per week. Applicants must be generally available Monday-Friday afternoons in the 5:30 - 9:00 PM time frame. Specific schedule details will be discussed upon interview.
  • Arrival at practice and meets at minimum 15 min prior to arrival of athletes 
  • Model proper dress, language, demeanor and sportsmanship for the athletes
  • Effectively teach strokes, starts, and turns
  • Provide constructive feedback to swimmer at practices and following races at meets
  • Help athletes to develop and achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials
  • Assist or substitute for other coaches as directed
  • Attend all assigned staff meetings 
  • Attend all assigned swim meets (approximately 1-2 weekends per month)
  • Understand and adhere to rules, regulations and policies of USA Swimming, Midwestern Swimming and ACE.

Compensation:

  • Pay is based upon experience. 
  • The Club will cover the costs of required certifications and USA Swimming membership, as well as reimburse approved professional development fees .
