Chugiak Aquatics Club is a USA Swimming, coach-owned swim team and instructional organization that was founded by club owner and head coach Anne Williams in 2003. The club currently has ~400 swimmers including youth lessons through college age. This includes ~40 athletes of high school age. Chugiak Aquatics Club swims out of both Chugiak Pool and Bartlett’s 50-meter pool. CAC is supported by an active booster organization. You can learn more about CAC HERE.
Position Summary
The Senior Level Swimming Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the swimming program for our swimmers who are primarily of high school age. The senior coach designs and implements training plans while promoting a positive, competitive, and safe swimming environment.

Develop and execute an engaging, comprehensive training program that targets athlete safety, teamwork, motivation and growth.
Research and implement current best practice and methods
Establish short- and long-term individual performance goals aligned with the organization’s mission.
Plan and oversee practices, meets, and team events.
Contribute to the health of the sport and its supporting organizations
Communicate positively and productively with athletes, parents, and fellow staff.
Foster a positive staff culture through knowledge sharing, load sharing, and communication.

Demonstrate deep technical knowledge and expertise including an understanding of stroke mechanics and training principles.
Create a secure, structured environment that engenders respect, promotes safety, and offers athletes a healthy environment to pursue their goals.
Practice patience and empathy actively recognizing that each swimmer is unique, requiring the coach to assess strengths and weaknesses in order to develop an individualized, appropriately paced developmental program.
Establish positive, motivating communication that is a constructive source of feedback appropriately balanced between critique and praise.
Maintain appropriate coach/athlete boundaries including the use of transparent communication tools.
Invest in a caring, athlete-centered approach that expresses genuine interest in each athlete’s well being, personal growth, and enjoyment of the sport.
Outreach
Represent the program positively within the swim and local community.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and fellow coaches.
Administration and Participation in Depth
Coordinate meet logistics, including entries, travel, and compliance documentation.
Attend and actively coach at all meets in which assigned athletes are participating
Maintain attendance and performance records as needed or required
Collaborate with team ownership, head coach, staff, boosters, and the swim community to support program continuity and continuance
Contribute to pool maintenance requirements and program supervision
Participate in team events, including fundraising, and just for fun activities
Assist, as needed, to cover additional training groups
Safety and Compliance
Maintain up-to-date certifications including all USA Swimming requirements, Lifeguarding, and Certified Pool Operation.
Follow safe sport protocols and foster athlete understanding of the same.
Proactively address safety concerns
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a collegiate competitive swimmer preferred
2 years of competitive coaching experience strongly preferred
Current certifications: USA Swimming Coach Credential, and Lifeguarding required.
Willingness to become certified as a Pool Operator strongly preferred
Compensation
This is a part time position requiring between 20 and 30 regular hours. This commitment does not include the time required for swim meets which involve additional supplemental compensation. Starting Salary is competitive but dependent on experience and level of engagement
20 days paid leave
$200 per day additional stipend for meets (Normally 12-20 days per year)
Initial and Annual Certification Bonus: $400
Additional certification bonus of $400 for successfully completing the Certified Pool Operators course.
