Assistant Coach (Part-Time)

Mt. Baldy Aquatics is seeking a year-round, part-time Assistant Coach for our non-profit, competitive swim club. MBA was established in 1975 to serve youth swimmers in Claremont and other nearby communities. We offer technique instruction and physical conditioning, as well as opportunities to compete in organized swim meets for those who are interested in being competitive. Our club is governed by USA Swimming and participates in the Eastern Section of Southern California Swimming.

Our team is family-oriented and we highly encourage parent participation. Our coaches emphasize technique instruction and provide high quality workouts in a low-pressure environment. MBA’s mission is to be a competitive swim team which provides proper instruction for our swimmers to become the best swimmers they can be, all while enjoying the sport.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with swim coaching and teaching experience, excellent communication skills and experience working with young people.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development, planning and implementation of workouts and trainings under direction of Head Swim Coach.

  • Lead practices and/or dry land trainings under the guidance of Head Swim Coach.

  • Evaluate swimmer ability/performance and plan strategies for their improvement.

  • Coordinate and execute meet registrations.

  • Establish and maintain a team attitude, and encourage good sportsmanship for athletes and parents.

This is a part-time, hourly position.  We are ideally looking for someone who can commit to three days a week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday.  Practices typically run one hour.  Occasional weekend hours to attend meets may be requested. Practice hours vary by season, but start times vary between 5 PM and 7 PM.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Experience Required:

  • Minimum 21 years of age preferred

  • High School degree and/or combination of experience and training. 

  • Prior experience instructing competitive (or pre-competition) swimmers

  • Knowledge of USA Swimming regulations and safety requirements.
