Mission Viejo Nadadores Swim School is seeking an energetic, organized, and passionate Swim School Program Manager to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced swim instructor, deck supervisor, or aquatic professional who loves developing staff, creating exceptional experiences for families, and ensuring the highest quality swim instruction.

As the Swim School Program Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of one of Southern California's premier swim lesson programs. This position is primarily an on-deck leadership role, working closely with instructors during lesson hours to provide coaching, support, training, and oversight that ensures every swimmer receives safe, effective, and fun instruction.

What You'll Do

Lead Instructional Excellence

  • Ensure consistent implementation of the Mission Viejo Nadadores swim curriculum and teaching philosophy.
  • Oversee swimmer evaluations, monitor progress, and guide appropriate advancement through the program.
  • Supervise lessons from the deck to promote safety, efficiency, and a high-quality experience for swimmers and families.
  • Observe instructor performance and provide regular coaching, support, and feedback.
  • Coordinate monthly staff trainings and in-service meetings.
  • Partner with Pre-Competitive staff to facilitate smooth transitions from Advanced Lessons into Pre-Comp programs.
  • Occasionally provide in-water lesson coverage when needed.

Develop and Support Staff

  • Build instructor schedules and coordinate staffing assignments for each session.
  • Manage shift coverage and anticipate future staffing needs.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Develop and implement performance evaluation processes for staff at all stages of employment.
  • Create and maintain standardized onboarding and training programs for instructors, Deck Supervisors, and seasonal employees.
  • Foster a positive team culture through recognition, mentorship, and professional development.

Oversee Programs and Operations

  • Support seasonal league and off-site programs to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Help develop new programming opportunities, including camps, clinics, adult programs, and special events.
  • Maintain inventory and oversee swim school equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure the swim school environment remains safe, organized, welcoming, and family-friendly.

Support Events and Administration

  • Assist with annual planning and coordination of the swim school calendar and special events.
  • Support swim meets, Free Trial Days, and other events through planning, setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Collaborate with office staff to provide exceptional customer service and operational support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in swim instruction, coaching, aquatics, or related leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of stroke development, water safety, and swim instruction techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and develop staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience supervising employees in an aquatics, youth program, or customer service environment.
  • Experience developing training programs and conducting staff evaluations.

Required Certifications

  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Safety Training for Swim Coaches
  • APT Certification
  • Ability to pass a background check

Training will be provided on internal software systems and operational procedures.

Schedule

This position is primarily an afternoon, evening, and weekend role, aligned with swim lesson programming. Flexibility is required to support seasonal programming, staff trainings, special events, and operational needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and wet environments.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to observe swimmers and staff with strong visual awareness, including distance and peripheral vision.
