About Tsunami Swim Team
Tsunami Swim Team is a community-focused, nonprofit swim program dedicated to developing confident swimmers in a positive, supportive, and fun environment. We believe in teaching strong fundamentals while fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and a lifelong love of swimming.
Position Summary
The Head Recreational Swim Coach will lead and manage our recreational swim program, providing high-quality instruction to swimmers of varying skill levels. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and passionate about helping young athletes grow both in and out of the pool.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging daily swim practices for recreational swimmers.
- Teach and refine all four competitive strokes, starts, and turns.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for athletes.
- Encourage swimmer development through goal setting and positive reinforcement.
- Supervise assistant coaches and volunteer helpers during practices.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and swimmer progress.
- Coordinate with the Head Coach and Board of Directors on program planning and special events.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and emergency procedures.
- Attend and support team functions, clinics, and recreational swim meets as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching or competitive swimming experience.
- Knowledge of stroke technique and age-group swimmer development.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and work effectively with children and families.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications (or ability to obtain before employment).
- USA Swimming coach certifications preferred but not required.
- Successful completion of all required background checks.

Compensation
Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications.
