Velocity Swimming, a year-round USA Swimming team based in Wenatchee, WA, is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Lead Assistant Coach to join our coaching staff. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic coach to make a lasting impact on athlete development and contribute to the continued growth and success of our program.
We are looking for a coach who not only brings technical expertise and a passion for swimmer development but also someone ready to play an integral role in shaping our program’s future. The Lead Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and have increasing leadership opportunities based on performance, initiative, and program needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and assist in coaching primary age group swimmers focusing on stroke technique, training progression, and race strategy
· Collaborate with the Head Coach on practice planning, seasonal training, and long-term athlete development
· Provide individualized feedback to swimmers and promote competitive readiness
· Foster a team culture centered on discipline, growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship
· Attend swim meets and provide coaching and support to athletes during competitions
· Work closely with other coaches to ensure consistency and alignment across all training groups
· Assist with administrative tasks such as season planning, meet preparation, athlete progress tracking, website updates, and parent communication/education
· Participate in team events, coach training meetings, and community outreach
Qualifications
· Competitive swimming and/or age group coaching experience
· Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and age-appropriate training principles
· ASCA Level 2 certification or equivalent preferred (or willingness to obtain)
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for athlete development
· Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching team and support the Head Coach
· USA Swimming Coach Certification (or willingness to obtain quickly)
· Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches
· Must be 18 or older and able to pass a background check
· Availability to work evenings and weekends as required

Velocity Swimming is a year-round competitive swim team based in Wenatchee, Washington, dedicated to developing swimmers of all ages and abilities. As a nonprofit organization, Velocity offers structured training programs ranging from beginner to elite levels, led by USA Swimming certified coaches who emphasize technique, discipline, and sportsmanship. Practices are held at the Eastmont Aquatic Center ( indoor 25y pool) and Wenatchee City Pool (outdoor 50M pool), and the club also offers a recreational group and adult Masters swim program. With a strong focus on athlete development and community involvement, Velocity provides a supportive environment where swimmers can grow both in and out of the pool.
