Capital of Texas Aquatics (Austin, TX) seeks Assistant Coach
Capital of Texas Aquatics (COTA) in Austin, TX, is searching for an assistant coach to work with our age group and junior practice groups. The position is part time, 5 days a week and approximately 2 hours per day. Meet coaching and private lesson opportunities are also available.
Responsibilities:
· Be the primary coach for the Age Group and Junior 1 groups. Practice days and times include:
During the school year: Monday-Thursday: 4pm-6pm & Friday: 4:30-6pm
During the summer: Monday-Friday 6:30am-9am
Flexibility to work some Fridays until 6:30pm & Saturday mornings
Flexibility to work 1-3 day meets - usually on weekends (Friday - Sunday).
· Work with the Head Coach to develop and implement seasonal, weekly, and daily training plans for the group
· Teach and train the swimmers in proper stroke techniques and racing strategies as appropriate for the age and developmental level of the group
· Attend meets and coach swimmers on their racing technique
· Develop and maintain healthy relationships with the swimmers and their parents
· Participate fully in group practices
· Maintain daily attendance records for the group
· Ability to lift 40+ lbs
Qualifications include:
· Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience
· Current USA Swimming required certifications (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion Protocol Training, Background check, Coaches Advantage Training, Foundations of Coaching) or the ability to obtain the certifications in a timely manner.
Compensation:
A competitive pay package based on experience and qualifications is available. Pay starts at $25 an hour with room for advancement in pay.
Location:
COTA trains at the Courtyard Racquet Club in Austin, TX. A 6-lane 25yd, outdoor pool.
About COTA & Head Coach, Ryan “Chic” Ciccarelli:
Coach Chic has been teaching and coaching swimmers in Austin, Texas for 20 years. His professional coaching career began with T3 (Total Technique Training), an organization that specializes in training triathletes of all levels and ages. In 2004 he founded his own USA Swimming team, the Austin Texas Piranhas, where he developed accomplished age group and senior swimmers. Coach Chic became the head coach of COTA in 2009. His COTA swimmers have achieved remarkable success, including record-setting swims at state competitions.
