Provide instruction in a safe, positive learning environment. Assist in supporting rules, regulations, and safety of the facility. Schedule events, complete paperwork, coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in swimming, and perform other duties related to the operation of the swim center as assigned.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid for the professional rescuer
American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage aquatics programs and maintain pool facility
Familiarity with Google Suite and it’s applications
Experience with Swim related software (meet manager, team manager, web-based servers)
Experience:
Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification (AED, CPR, First Aid)
Coaches Water Safety and AED/CPR and First Aid.
Current USA Swimming certified coach.
Extensive experience working with children and teenagers.
Strong background in competitive swimming.
At least two years of supervisory experience (preferred)
Knowledge and experience using Team Unify and Colorado Timing Systems.
1. Aid in the development and implementation of a comprehensive, year-round training program for the Tiger Sharks of Texas; to include designing practices, weekly progressions, and season plans, meet selection, entries, and supervision.
2. Serve as the lead coach, planning, coordinating, executing, and supervising all practices for assigned groups.
3. Serve as a secondary coach for addition groups, providing supervision and instruction, as needed.
4. Be approachable and visible to all club members and all swim team families.
5. Attend all BISD/Tiger Sharks swim meets as assigned by the head coach.
6. Bring an enthusiastic and energetic approach to each practice.
7. Develop strong, lasting relationships with all swimmers on the team.
8. Attend weekly aquatic staff meetings.
9. Coordinate with the coaching staff to track athletes’ progress throughout each season.
10. Help implement training program for all levels of swimmers and club team participants.
11. Keep current with research in aquatics related areas.
12. Assist the Aquatics Director with aquatic programming and pool supervision during public and district use.
13. Assist the facility with upkeep of the facility.
14. Assist with the development and marketing of all Aquatics programs.
15. Attend and assist running Aquatics special events and conducted at our facility as needed.
16. Assist with the promotion of the swim team both within the club (flyers, bulletin boards, swim instructor bios, signage on deck during lessons, member newsletter) and outside the club (website content, posting flyers, Community Fairs, etc.).
17. Attend competitive swim meets and assist with meet entries via Team Unify.
18. Assist with the coordination of billing and membership.
19. Maintain the Tiger Sharks team website with up-to-date information.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
