Assistant Swim Coach, Part-Time

Do you love developing young athletes, building confidence, and creating a positive team culture? The Sparks Piranhas Swim Team is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Assistant Swim Coach to join our coaching staff.

This position supports the Head Coach in delivering high-quality practices, fostering athlete growth, and creating an environment where swimmers can thrive both in and out of the water.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and leading swim practices for assigned training groups
• Teach and reinforce proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategy
• Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to swimmers of varying ages and abilities
• Support swimmer development through goal setting, motivation, and positive coaching
• Attend swim meets and assist with athlete preparation and meet operations
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive practice environment
• Communicate professionally with athletes, families, and fellow coaches
• Uphold team values, policies, and standards of sportsmanship
• Collaborate with coaching staff to support seasonal and long-term athlete development

Qualifications

• Competitive swimming and/or swim coaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of stroke mechanics and training fundamentals
• Ability to work positively with youth athletes and families
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Reliable, organized, and team-oriented
• Evening and occasional weekend availability required
• Current (or ability to obtain):
  
  • USA Swimming Coach Membership
  • SafeSport Training
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certification
  • Background check requirements

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time position
• Practice hours: afternoons and Saturday mornings (times could vary and/or change)
• Meet attendance required as assigned 
• Compensation: Negotiable based on experience.
