NON SEASONAL APPLICANTS ONLY - great part time work (starting at ~9-12 hrs per week available year round). As a Recreational Swim Team Coach & Instructor you are responsible for the safety of each class and group practice, and teaching technical swim skills and training habits to students using our curriculum. This is a hybrid position; while the focus is on coaching the recreational team, you may also support in-water swim lessons as needed. Additionally, you will play an active role in supporting our recreational swim meet each season. You will work to build water confidence and endurance within your students, encouraging each student to rise to the best of their abilities. You can expect to be regularly communicating with students, parents, and fellow staff members on deck.

Love and respect students while teaching them to swim and train.
Conduct recreational swim team assessments and evaluate swimmer progression, providing clear recommendations to management when a student is ready to advance to the team.
Help organize, lead, and support our seasonal recreational swim meets to ensure a fun and smooth event for our athletes and families.
Be a team player who is consistently dependable and reliable.
Complete required training and be a continual learner. This includes completing our standard 20-hour in-water training process.
Follow our curriculum with a focus on the needs, abilities and comfort of each student, while effectively managing group team practices and traditional lessons.

Competitive swim experience (high school, club, or collegiate level) or youth coaching experience is required
Current CPR certification is required
The ability to commit to at least 6 months of employment
Caring and compassion for children and adults
Ability to work in the water or on the pool deck for periods of up to 4 hours
Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and connect with families
Great attitude and willingness to be coached
The ability to focus and manage a group in a fast-paced environment
Our recreational swim team, the Tuna Squad, is a structured program focused on building endurance in a supportive, team-centered environment. While the program places a strong emphasis on enhancing technique and improving stroke understanding, the daily goal is simply boosting overall confidence and fostering a lifelong love for the water.
Instructors and coaches at LSA are trained to take on an active and participatory role in each lesson and practice, offering visual demonstration and encouragement to motivate each swimmer to push themselves to become better and stronger swimmers. Each lesson and workout is passionately infused with a spirit of aquatic adventure in a respectful homage to the many heroes and legends that continue to inspire Southern California and the United States.
In addition to teaching basic survival skills and technical instruction on the strokes, LSA is proud to focus on developing breath control, buoyancy and learning how to maximize propulsion in the most energy efficient manner.

Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
