CAC is a USA Swimming competitive swim club dedicated to developing swimmers of all ability levels through technical excellence, discipline, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture. Our coaches work together to help athletes build confidence, achieve their goals, and develop a lifelong passion for competitive swimming.
This position will primarily coach our Gold Group (ages 9–12), helping athletes strengthen their technique, training habits, and race skills while preparing them for higher levels of competition.
This is a competitive swim team coaching position—not a swim lessons or learn-to-swim instructor position.
We are seeking candidates with experience coaching or participating in a competitive swim team environment who understand structured practices, athlete development, and swim meet preparation.
Coach assigned age group practices Monday through Friday.
Plan and conduct organized, engaging, and challenging workouts under the direction of the Head Coach.
Teach and reinforce proper stroke technique, starts, turns, race strategy, pacing, and training habits.
Foster a positive, disciplined, and supportive team environment that encourages athlete growth, accountability, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Evaluate swimmer progress and provide constructive feedback to athletes and parents, as appropriate.
Prepare swimmers for competitions and assist with long-term athlete development.
Attend assigned swim meets and actively coach athletes during competition.
Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, fellow coaches, and club leadership.
Maintain a safe training environment and uphold all USA Swimming Safe Sport policies and standards.
Competitive swimming background.
Previous coaching experience with a competitive swim team (USA Swimming, YMCA, high school, college, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of competitive swimming technique, training principles, practice organization, starts, turns, and race preparation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Dependable, punctual, and professional.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.
Passion for mentoring and developing young athletes.
Current USA Swimming Coach Membership (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
Athlete Protection Training (Safe Sport), CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
Previous experience coaching age group swimmers.
Familiarity with USA Swimming competition, including Southern California Swimming meet procedures and championship meet formats (e.g., Age Group Championships) is preferred.
Minimum 10 hours per week.
Attendance at all assigned Monday–Friday practices is required.
Practices are typically held 5:00–7:00 PM during the school year (September–June) and 4:00–6:00 PM during the summer (June–August). Practice times are subject to change based on facility availability and seasonal schedules.
Weekend swim meet coaching as assigned (typically Saturdays and Sundays).
Occasional clinics, team events, or morning practices as needed.
Hourly compensation will be based on qualifications, competitive coaching experience, and relevant certifications. Additional compensation is provided for assigned swim meet coaching.
Year-round USA Swimming competitive swim club in an indoor facility.
Positive, family-oriented team culture.
Supportive Head Coach and Board of Directors.
Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young athletes.
Emphasis on technical excellence and long-term athlete development.
