JCAT Swim is seeking a motivated and reliable Developmental Age Group Coach to assist with our growing swim program. We are a small, family-oriented team focused on long-term athlete development, strong technique, swimmer confidence, and creating an environment where athletes feel like they are part of the team, not just on a team.
This position is ideal for a coach who enjoys working with age group swimmers, especially athletes ages 8–12, and believes that progress is measured by more than meet results. At JCAT, we value technical improvement, discipline, confidence, consistency, teamwork, and swimmer ownership of their own development.
The coach will assist with daily practices, provide stroke instruction, support swimmer development, communicate professionally with athletes and parents, and help maintain a positive team culture. The ideal candidate should be patient, teachable, organized, and willing to learn and apply JCAT’s coaching philosophy and progression system.
Responsibilities include assisting with practice groups, teaching proper stroke mechanics, reinforcing starts, turns, streamlines, and breakouts, helping swimmers understand the purpose behind drills and sets, supporting meet preparation, and creating a positive learning environment. The coach should be able to give clear feedback, motivate swimmers, and help each athlete develop confidence over time.
Preferred qualifications include prior swim coaching or competitive swimming experience, knowledge of all four strokes, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with children and families. USA Swimming coach certification or willingness to obtain certification is required. Speaking Spanish is preferred, but not required, as many of our families benefit from bilingual communication.
We are looking for someone who believes in coaching the whole athlete, not just writing workouts or chasing times. The right coach will help swimmers grow technically, mentally, and emotionally while supporting the family-style culture that makes JCAT unique.
Interested applicants should submit a resume, coaching background, references if available, and a brief statement describing their coaching philosophy.
